Meiji Shrine was completed and dedicated to the Emperor Meiji and the Empress Shoken in 1920, eight years after the passing of the emperor and six years after the passing of the empress. The shrine was destroyed during the Second World War but was rebuilt shortly thereafter. Source japan-guide.com

In all my life I have never seen anyone as devoted as this woman. Visiting the Spassky temple in Irkutsk, I followed her for a while. She cleaned up the altars and places of prayer with a small brush, as she was beautifully humming the most dreamy songs. Impressed by her mindfull dedication I was glad that one can hardly hear the shutter of my camera. She was so in trans that she didn't notice me.

Dedicated in 2004, this Boone County Kentucky park contains 43 acres and has a 1.3 mile paved path with a great view of the Ohio River. There are porta potty's and picnic shelters at both ends of the trail. Located on the downriver end of rural route 8, it's never crowded and litter free. It's a gem for a little solitude.

A new chapter for Air Canada launched today with the inauguration of dedicated 767 freighter operations. The first flight was operated between Toronto and Vancouver using this 32 year old 767. Departing back to Toronto as AC7304.

Fields dedicated to flower bulb production generate gorgeous agricultural landscapes in spring. There is however a sad part in this picture. Bulb production is one of the most contaminant activities in agriculture, with heavy chemical inputs, including systemic pesticides that end up in your garden, affecting the pollinators visiting the flowers. Estimates for the Netherlands reach an astonishing average of 100 kg of active pesticides per ha and 310 and 130 kg of nitrogen and phosphate per ha, respectively (Jansma et al 2002 Acta Hortic 570:191-204). The sad result is that those fields are abiotic, an artificial industrial spring with no bees and butterflies. And that muteness can reach your garden if you plant those bulbs. What to do? Choose organic bulbs (or simply do not buy them).

Taddington Church , dedicated to St Michael and All Angels is located in one of the highest villages in England. Most of St Michaels is Medieval having been built in the 13th century, probably on the site of an earlier church. Although records don't prove this , there are remains in the churchyard that point to earlier celtic religion, and Norman stonework.
For those of you who know the area well , you won't be surprised to see the two most popular building materials used. Limestone for the older and main body of the church , and gritstone for the steeple.
The bunting in the photo is to attract attention to the Flower Festival Week , and the associated Well Dressings ( just two wells in Taddy ) etc. (Beer festival at the end of the month , but I don't think the church is involved !😊)

Only a small crop...I dedicated this pic to my buddy Al who happened to drop by..we had a coffee on the beach...there had been thunder showers part of the day..5 minutes before this pic...sun was coming through the clouds...and then everything became steely gray like this....it's so cool we were in the middle of a 2 person AA meeting and talking about our Higher Powers at work....

The Harlingen Whale (Netherlands)
There was a time when the town of Harlingen was dedicated to whaling. Today, it is no longer a question of killing these large animals, but rather of saving them from death, especially as they are increasingly stranded in shallow waters, for incomprehensible reasons. The Harlingen fountain depicts a life-size sperm whale. He seems lost near the pier, but the powerful jet of water he regularly ejects confirms that he is alive. This fountain thus testifies to the important impact of man on all that lives in the sea. The sculpture is the work of Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla.
Il fut un temps où la ville de Harlingen était dédiée à la chasse à la baleine. Aujourd'hui, il ne s’agit plus de tuer ces grands animaux, mais plutôt de les sauver de la mort, d’autant plus qu'ils sont de plus en plus bloqués dans des eaux peu profondes, pour des raisons incompréhensibles. La fontaine de Harlingen représente un cachalot grandeur nature. Il semble perdu près de la jetée, mais le puissant jet d’eau qu’il éjecte régulièrement confirme qu’il est bien en vie. Cette fontaine témoigne ainsi de l’impact important de l’homme sur tout ce qui vit dans la mer. La sculpture est l’œuvre de Jennifer Allora et Guillermo Calzadilla.
