Day 52 - Feb 21st: Will spring never come?

This leaf caught my eye arriving at the office shortly after sunrise. Will spring never come? Right now it is snowing outside. Hope that my flight home tonight is not affected.....

Woah. 12 hours at work today, how did that happen?

Bath was necessary, and seeing as we had no general inspiration, doubled up as a photo :-)

I look knackered!

Holiday minus 3 days, woop woop!

We need more friends!

When my boyfriend is out of town, I have too much free time. I start trying on make up and clothes that I would never wear out.

Edit: This got explored! I wasn't expecting that :) Thanks!

Inspired yet again by the awesomeness of Brittney Bush.

My daughter will be turning seven soon and she is very excited about her upcoming b'day party. She got the goodie bags ready..

So, another weekend searching for pictures of the Milky way, this time accompanied by my 5 year old son. We arrived at the campsite in Northumbria on Friday night where we had a talk on the planets from a local astronomer. It was really cloudy on the Friday night but I liked these long exposures. The orange glow in the clouds must be lighting from the local town.

(4.12.12) Unless you are blind i'm sure you have noticed I have braces. I have had them for over a year now. I have a gap in my teeth where I had a baby tooth pulled in october. My perminent tooth was literally in the middle of the roof of my mouth. They had to dig in there and find it and then put a bracket on it to pull it in place. It has been six months now that i've had this gap and I hate it. Today I decided to try and see if I could see the tooth so I got out a hand mirror (smallest mirror I had) stuck it in my mouth and then looked in my bathroom mirror. I was soooo excited to see how far it has moved. With the wedding coming up the orthodontist said she could make me a fake tooth for the wedding but i'm really hoping my own tooth will be in place in time! yay

P.S. Sorry if this picture grosses anyone out.

Such a big bridge for such a small river.

I had to drive outside of Berlin today and was looking forward to take some pictures of the country side. But I was not well prepared and my camera battery died shortly after taking this snap.

I wanted to take a photo for the daily theme for the Macro Mondays group that my Flickr buddy CJ is a member of. The theme was "spices and seasonings" but I really couldn't take a picture that I wasn't feeling so I took a picture of my clamshells because I really wanted to do a strobist shot.

My clamshells are a little scratched. I wish I had preserved them better but I still like them just as much as the day I found them.

I may not get around to everyone's photostreams this evening. I'm very exhausted but will catch up tomorrow.

(52/366) Not feeling well today (again). Apparently "it" is going around so we've stocked up on lysol and I'm still on anti-biotics from the last illness so... I could have done a lot more with this image but it is what it is tonight. I wanted to use the roses a bit more before nature took its course with them. Hoping tomorrow I will feel better and can be more active in my groups & such. Its my addiction and I miss all of you when something keeps me away.

Today's shoot produced this brilliant black and white. Today I'm saying the model, Brandi, looks Italian. You never know what nationality you are going to end up when you view Brandi's film. I guess that is what keeps her getting booked so much!

Happy Day52 to everyone!

Day 52: Like two sentries, the gnarled old trees stood guard over the crumbling doorway...

Wouldn't that be a nice start to a fairytale? I think so. But that's probably my over-active imagination working!

21st February 2011

(also day 360/365 of the 365 project I started in February 2010)

I was actually panicking for a shot yesterday as we went to see a movie in the afternoon, (Unknown) and my wife wanted to go for a bite to eat after and I realized that I had not taken a shot yet. This made for a good photo op, saved the day and I enjoyed dinner.

[52/365]

I can't wait for this week to be over, and it's only Tuesday. Basically, yesterday I had a huge panic attack. I was freaking out about the two tests I have this week, how much work I have to do, all the crap I have to memorize, and the fact that it's going to be nearly impossible. The fact that all of my friends got deleted off my myspace sure didn't help.

Argh!..

This weekend I'm going up to Austin again to visit my sister. Hopefully that will relieve the stress a little bit...even if I hate Austin.

Back to studying. Wish me luck on my tests! I have a feeling I'm going to need it.

My wife loves walking and with the wind chill temperature at -25 Celsius this morning, she was dressed appropriately.

Even when the sun is shining, i can't avoid the lightning.

Feeling a bit nostalgic tonight. In a good way. Drinking wine, listening to cheesy songs. Thinking some things about some things. It's nice.

Where did the blue sky go? (Listen...you know you want to.)

The lightstreams come from a passing tram.

Hope you like my new diptych.

Fantastic chorizo and potato tacos (made by husband) and my specialty-- Margaritas! (sadly lacking my special ingredient, jalapenos... but still tasty).

February 21st. I've been planning this shot all week, but the weather has been so lovely that I had to take advantage. So tonight I persuaded my lovely #2 ( reward of crisps and a film by the fire) to play herself at battleships. We strung up a sheet as the backdrop which caused much hilarity as it kept falling down. Then her cat joined in the fun (see outtake). Finally I got these that I managed to fit together to make the game fit in the centre. This is one of the first shots I've done RAW, tones boosted in Snapseed.

I am such a mild mannered person that this is a side of me I don't usually see.

FGR's group for the day was Extreme Expressions, so I was playing around with a few extreme expressions, and this was the one I liked best. I was thinking 'tiger' thoughts!

Day 52 of 365

A possible submission for Take A Class With Dave & Dave. I'm not sure if it will be my final submission for Assignment 3 (Silhouette), but for now I am liking it.

The temperature here lately has been crazy. It has gone from artic cold to 50 degrees yesterday and this afternoon and now it has dropped to freezing.

This year is meant to be seen as a whole.

A Raspberry Pi clean-up. I've got so many Pi 2s but I need some Pi 3s. Time to cull a few SD cards for some new Pis.

They don't take much looking after either. We haven't needed to water then once yet. Though, after the boys have been at them we are a few petals short of a bouquet.

Many young couples just starting out usually wind up with wedding gifts that allow them to build a home together - small appliances, linens, etc.

So when we announced to our parents that we were finally getting married, one of the questions that my mom & dad asked me was "what do you want as a wedding gift?" Since Danielle and I have been together for 22 reasonably prosperous years, we don't really need or want anything. I jokingly answered "a toaster," as an hommage to those younger couples' typical wedding gifts.

Little did I know my parents would take me so seriously.

Somewhere in my Aunt Claire's basement lied this ancient relic of a toaster: a manual Hotpoint model which my grandparents received as their wedding gift something like 80+ years ago! They dusted it off, put in in a nice box, and voilà! a regifted toaster for the 21st century.

As you can see, it still works. It must be watched very closely - any loss of focus and your bread will be charcoal in no time flat.
