Water falls in center of Lombok.

Coming up for air while doing some bobbs at the beginning of swim class

13 November 2007

it's mid-november and I ate lunch OUTSIDE today! I can't believe it, the sunshine and fresh air made me so happy! Plus, I met a great friend at one of our favorite places... Jerusalem Gardens. Tasty falafel and hummus.

I'm noticing a theme... I might have to have a tea cup in my pictures for a week :) -- or not, we'll see what happens tomorrow!

I ordered two books yesterday, #the100 and #day21, and while it’s actually vastly different from the show, which I adore, I’m really enjoying it. It’s almost as though the show is a work of really well written fanfiction come to life, and it’s wonderful to see two different perspectives play off of one another so well. It’s rare adaptations ever give readers what they truly want—Games of Thrones, seasons 2-4. Then again, sometimes it happens in the most unexpected and breathtaking ways—Lord of the Rings, not The Hobbit.

Writing is such an important part of my life, as is reading, for without one, how is the other possible? So much of the inspiration for my novels comes from Lord of the Rings, DragonLance, Harry Potter, and Eragon, and I started writing long before their film adaptations came out and brought my childhood back to life, gave me something else to infuse into my writing. Reading is so vastly vital to our survival as intelligent, intellectual human beings. Books, even more so—and I mean the physical weight of pages and a binding in your hands—will carry us through anything. There is always time to read, whether it is right before bed (which is good for your mental health and strength), in or out of school (because reading should never stop once you leave that threshold), or even while doing yoga (which can be interesting to attempt).

And so, yes, today I am dressed in wild patterns in honor of the grounders I have yet to meet while reading #the100, warrior’s colors that I will carry with me, bold and challenging every roadblock this world puts in front of me. Nothing matters, as long as I have words.

For today's challenge - my third cup of coffee (I know it's probably a lot, but I drink it large and strong too :)

refashioned - gifted top (it was turtle-necked, grrr and had an abominable sequin embroidery, which I removed entirely stitch by stitch)

self-stitched - the cross-stitch picture, which reads "Given enough COFFEE I could rule the world". Pretty inspirational :)

A fantastic set of Moo's from the lovely Kristy

There are few vertical spaces left, I would think about half a dozen.

Some days I just need a hug.

It wasn't a particularly bad day or anything. But still. *shrug*

oh... and I guess this turned out to be an unintentional half nekkid thursday shot.

(wow. apparently this made Explore a while back and I didn't notice. neato! highest position 344)

Still exploring theme "relax" in highkey.

even though he's on super nutritious breast milk, they still like to "fortify" it with a load of vitamins and a bunch of other stuff that is meant to beef up the caloric content of the milk so he can put on weight.

the current ratios of milk to fortifier add 2 calories per ounce to his feedings. and when you're as small as eric those two calories make a big difference.

it should be noted that, although it might like it, this is not "baby formula". it's a special blend of vitamins and fats that is only available at your local nicu.

the nurse thought that i was crazy for taking a boring shot of the fortifier box, but i knew that it was the perfect opportunity to crank up the contrast and create an extremely compelling picture of the suplement box. everything is a little better with a bit of added contrast.

On October 13, the Osage Nation Employees hosted their annual Osage Day Celebration at the Osage County Fairgrounds in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. On that day they celebrated the pride and strength of the Osage Nation. Photos by Chalene Toehay/Osage News

I really have not got the hang of keeping a reasonable facial expression while using the phone's front camera.

MMM14 Day 21. Wearing a silk twill skirt made from a Vogue dress pattern (V1174), and again, this is a pattern I've used again and again as it works in many different fabrics. In the background is Sydney, seen from the promenade leading to Sydney Opera House. If you'd like to read more about the skirt, there's a link to the original blog post in my MMM days 19-25 blog post <a href="http://www.upsewlate.blogspot.com"
