3 years ago today ...

This beautiful warbler showed up - far from his Wintering grounds, acted like a family pet, and didn't leave for 98 days!

>>>>>

Some of you may remember this story. My phone had gone into a Factory Reset all on its own (thanks Samsung!) so you can say I was a bit stressed. Then I looked out our Big Kitchen Window at our leafy beech tree and saw the back of a bird that didn't match our Winter birds. He turned around and I saw that bright yellow throat ... a Yellow-throated warbler (Setophaga dominica) ??? in Winter??? They overwinter from the GA coast (300 miles from us) & Florida down into Central America & the Caribbean.

I had never gotten a photo of a Yellow-throated warbler. They pass thru here during migration & are known to be a bit elusive & stay up in tree canopies. Even Winter sightings on the GA coast are considered RARE. Giff said he looked like Setophaga dominica albilora.

I grabbed my S5 to get a documentation shot before it disappeared - certain I had just MOMENTS! But that rare warbler stayed ... FOR 98 DAYS ... and became like a family pet. He would come down to me and chirp twice a day when I would feed him - Bark Butter. He survived all Winter on Bark Butter! He would come so close I could feel the flutter of his wings across my hands. I am CERTAIN that the Good Lord sent that warbler that day - and that Winter ... that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Details are also posted on ebird. Just check out the Map for this species in Jan-Feb '22 and you'll see how lonesome he was up here!

Wet zipper

I find photographing drops pretty hard.

Still haven't found the best way to get the drops to stay, here I used a plant sprayer.

This is about 2,5 cm.

Happy Macro Monday.

The drying room is really, really hot and humid, a small room with a dryer blowing hot air and ruining clothes..

When life is difficult and hard, I´ve noticed it´s important to do the laundry, clean and look after yourself. Put a clay-mask on, get a pedicure, iron, pamper your plants or go for a walk.

Once I got this advice from my mother when I was in the middle of a horrible divorce: when it gets really, really tough and you think you just can´t take it anymore, do something; brush your teeth or apply some mascara. Anything that is for YOU and takes your mind off the horrible situation, even for a minute, is good.

She sits in the back,

always remembering her place

in your world.

She's been waiting for years...

to be put first in your life,

for you to actually care,

for you to do right.

Sadly, she knows she'll be waiting forever...

because she will always be sitting in the background.

This photograph was taken on a recent trip to Ladakh. From Ladakh we had to ride bikes for around 160km crossing Chang La Pass which is the third highest motorable road in the world & took us around 12 hours spread over two days because of the blocked roads & including night stay in an on way village. The journey to Pangong Tso was surely tough but the view was as refreshing & worth it.

Whenever you see the monkeys you can be pretty sure that it's been a long day . They're in the office that I barely saw the outside of today. I wouldn't even post this but I devoted myself to the YIP group.

Things are picking up, as I knew they would (for my day job) so I'll be having many more days like this off and on through March, at least.

That's not a bad thing, considering the Michigan economy. : )

I'll apologize in advance if I get behind in my viewing.

And I, I am almost nowhere

And I'm getting there fast

And you, you're the hope in my cold stare

You're the drink in my hand

"The Drink In My Hand" -- The Classic Crime (MY FAVORITE BAND IN THE WHOLE WORLD <3)

I took this pic of my friend's alcohol at a party I went to. I don't drink so I ended up taking pictures of bottles and beer cans for like three hours because I was ridiculously bored.

Don't drink and make a fool out of yourself, kids. It's not worth it.

Our Daily Challenge- Hold Off Doing

21:365

I normally do anything but what I'm meant to be doing - if its photo time then I want to read, if I have work - I'm on Flickr, those frames on my desk need filling . . . . . . for at least the last 6 months. I have an online course that is taking me too long to finish.

A light in my lounge. Can you guess where it is from?

Flickrs Birthday Challenge Day 21: Awe

I'm often in awe of other people's bokeh, which inspired this shot. This is my much-photographed sparkly top, which has been featured in many bokehlicious shots!

I have to say I'm quite glad that this challenge is over! I've discovered that a challenge every day is too much for me (even with being able to use old shots). I'm going to go and have a lie down now. 😉

Appreciate your comments and favourites.

Another walk to Upnor this morning. I saw this boat tied to shore with a number of ropes fanned out.
