I got greedy and wanted more! Good old lens trick was soooo much easier to do with my new tripod and head! Huge thank you to my gorgeous wife :) I have to admit though, I spent a good 45 minutes perfecting adjust the ball head so I could put the cap on, move the camera slightly and do the next dome and repeat again! Tricky to put the lens cap on in the dark without knocking zoom!

Took on some cracking advice from (Flickr usernames) Jules, Pikebubbles and Catchlight of the idea of shooting before midnight and not long after to cover 2 days at once for the 365! Please check out their photostreams, their work is guaranteed to inspire you!

Light Painting session abandoned due to torrential rain and gail force winds. Oh well! I am almost used to this insane weather by now. Here's a photo of a cat instead. High ISO test: 2500 in low light with new 85mm f/1.8 Canon lens.

I managed to salvage another shot from the other night - although I think the 'noise' is something that I am just going to have to live with right now until my new Lens arrives. The 17-40 is a lot of fun, but is just not cutting it on the insanely dark nights.

Well, I have the folks visiting this week and so it was time to demonstrate the art of light painting to my Mum! It was so nice to take her along with me to one of my favourite spots and show her what it's all about. Thanks for your help tonight Mum :O)

'It is never truly dark'

To Write Love On Her Arms:

TWLOHA is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.

Earlier this year I created a body of work especially for TWLOHA. By adding light to darkness (by way of Light Painting), I hope my photography conveys this important message: It is never truly dark.

I find the concept of being present in each of the photographs yet remaining invisible quite incredible. I have an undeniable presence in each photograph yet there is no evidence that I was there other than the light sculptures that have been left behind.

Some individuals will associate nighttime with negativity, as natural light has faded, leaving everything in darkness. However, as my photography proves at the end of each long exposure, there is still an element of natural light there, proving that it is never truly dark.

You can find out more about TWLOHA by visiting their website www.TWLOHA.com and you can also find out more about this particular body of work here: twloha.com/blog/it-never-truly-dark

I am donating 50% of all proceeds raised through the sale of my Light Painting E-book from the following link to TWLOHA: www.davidgilliver.com/photography/twloha/

12th century priory meets LEDs.

Lihou Island.

These ruins are situated on the tiny island of Lihou right next to Guernsey. It is only accessible at the lowest of tides and so last night was a real opportunity to go across as the moon was also out to play and low tide was around midnight.

The Star Wars wedding of the year...

A long time ago in a toy box far, far away....

It was quite a stressful photo-shoot this one. The Groom would NOT shut up about his boss, and the group shots all looked the same!

After seeing the film Prometheus yesterday, I had to upload another snap from Skye from my walk up to see the Old Man of Storr (where part of the movie was filmed).

The location is epic, as is the film. Nuff said.
