A slightly different version to the light painting that I posted the other night.

www.davidgilliver.com

Throughout 2018 I have been busy working on a new photographic project using my miniature figurines (the 'Little People').

My main hope is that this new series of photographs will help highlight the plastic / litter epidemic our country (and planet) is suffering from. Littering in general has always sickened me, and the 'Blue Planet II effect' really made me feel like I too could help highlight the issue using my own unique approach.

Earlier this year, I spent several days collecting bags full of plastic and rubbish that had been discarded (or washed up) next to beaches and lochs on the west coast of Scotland, mostly 'beauty' spots. I kept some of this plastic to make my work (recycling the rest) and returned to the banks of Loch Lomond a couple of months ago to photograph my latest series - LIFE IN PLASTIC.

Here is a little teaser (what a load of rubbish I hear you cry!) - I'll upload a heap more work later in the week. Thanks for looking.

I was lucky enough to recently be asked by a very reputable Design Agency to help create the imagery for a very exciting re-branding project.

I can't go into too much detail just yet as there is still a lot of work to be done, but the great news is that I have completed all the work my side which is both a relief and a satisfying accomplishment.

I was working 14 hour days for a while there so I am glad to have a little time back on my hands. It was a fantastic experience, and once I am allowed to I will add a link to my Flickr account to show off their new website and the Little People can finally be shown in all their glory!

Thanks so much to Shaun Shackleton and the Guernsey Press for the incredibly generous double page spread in today's paper. I am incredibly grateful (as are the little folks).

Well thats a nice feeing for sure. I never thought I would get to the point where I wrote 366 - 366 on an image but I'm mighty pleased with myself for managing to get through.

I would just like to say a big thankyou to all the people who have viewed and followed my 366. Without your support I would probably have given in early. I would also like to thank a few fellow 366ers who have been a massive help, its been great to develop some good friendships throughout the year and share the daily grind of trying to get the picture!! So a massive thanks go to...

Hello again.

Just a wee message to ask if you could vote for a few of my photos that I have entered into Visit Guernsey's photo competition on Facebook. I have pasted the link at the top of this message which should take you through to the photo gallery page (just keep scrolling down to find my snaps or search my name in the search box which should take you to all my entries - you can vote for as many as you like).

When you try and vote, it will prompt you to 'like' the Visit Guernsey page to allow you to vote. Hope that makes sense...

Thanks for taking a look, and I really appreciate your support :O)

1st off, a MASSIVE thanks to Corrie White who inspired me to give this a go in the first place. I have been a massive admirer of her fantastic work for some time now and I urge you to have a look at her magnificent photo-stream here:

www.flickr.com/photos/10756887@N07/

She has not only been a great inspiration, but a real help with getting me started on this. I cannot thank you enough Corrie.

And so, the journey continues. Although a huge improvement on yesterday's attempts, I need to have a good play with the flash settings as although this looks ok on the surface, it is just not crisp enough. I think I need to up the flash power (this was taken at 1/32). Very pleased with the improvement though :O)

Do you own a DSLR camera?

Would you like to learn loads more about Light Painting?

I am delighted to announce the release of my very first E-book:

A step-by-step guide to Light Painting

After five years of spinning lights around, I have finally managed to find the time to fulfil what has been a personal goal of mine for some time, writing a book about a subject that I love: Light Painting.

www.davidgilliver.com/photography/

You do not need to be an experienced photographer to get the hang of and enjoy Light Painting. The main aim of my E-book is to try to save anyone who is new to Light Painting a heap of time by highlighting some of the key considerations that should be made such as:

- Getting your head around Light Painting

We take a closer look at the general concept of Light Painting: How does it work? What effects can you create?

- Camera Settings

I discuss the DSLR camera settings that work best

- Light Painting Tools

We take a look at a variety of portable light sources and look at examples of Light Paintings that can be created using each of them

- Light Painting Creations (including ‘How to create the perfect Orb’)

We take a closer look at several of the more popular forms of Light Painting: Orbs, Ribbons, Physiograms, Domes and Star Trails. I describe in complete detail with photographic illustrations and descriptions how you set about making each one. Every year I receive lots of emails from people asking me how I create my Orbs – this topic is covered in great detail

- The Full Monty

Putting everything into practice. Join me on a night photography Light Painting shoot where we look at the entire creative process from start to finish

I have not held anything back, as I wanted to share everything with you that I have learned over the past five years. This book is truly a labour of love and I hope you find it incredibly helpful.

This E-book is 55 pages long, costs only £12 and is absolutely crammed with useful information and helpful tips.

As always, thanks for showing an interest in me and my work and the very best of luck with your Light Painting journey.

David

Well, we were starting to wonder if our little baby would be born before or after 41 weeks of pregnancy as we have been kept waiting...

We found out the answer to that question not long after I made this photograph!

The results will follow tomorrow :O) All I will say for now is that we are absolutely thrilled! :O) xx
