Another of yesterday's incredible storm clouds, as viewed from Jerbourg Point. They really were quite magnificent. I think this one is my personal favourite.

I absolutely LOVE creating photo mosaics and this is one that I have been thinking about making for quite some time.
I have used 600 images of Guernsey that I have captured over the years and the level of detail in the final mosaic is insane!
Time to zoom up super close and see where and what you can spot...

Bit of fun with the colour gels.
Some coverage makes you smile just that little but wider than others do...
Well chuffed that the NYP has picked up on my work! Speechless... (well, almost!)
A long time ago in a toy box far, far away....

If there is one thing this 366 has been great for it is learning new things. One of those new things for me was high speed flash photography and after lots of reading and loads of help from Corrie it is something I can happily say I will be spending a lot more time on in the future.
It was something that the little people seemed to be pretty interested in too and they make pretty decent splash when they jump into a bowl of milk as it turns out...luckily this little lad was wearing a rubber ring.
It's a Small World!
(Just two more days to go in the 366...incredible!)

Q: "How do you get your Stormtrooper armor looking so incredibly clean?"
A: "I use Persil. It gets my whites whiter than white - even after I have spent loads of time chasing Ewoks around on the planet of Endor..."
You heard it here first folks!

I am delighted to announce the release of my very first E-book:
A step-by-step guide to Light Painting
After five years of spinning lights around, I have finally managed to find the time to fulfil what has been a personal goal of mine for some time, writing a book about a subject that I love: Light Painting.
www.davidgilliver.com/photography/
You do not need to be an experienced photographer to get the hang of and enjoy Light Painting. The main aim of my E-book is to try to save anyone who is new to Light Painting a heap of time by highlighting some of the key considerations that should be made such as:
- Getting your head around Light Painting
We take a closer look at the general concept of Light Painting: How does it work? What effects can you create?
- Camera Settings
I discuss the DSLR camera settings that work best
- Light Painting Tools
We take a look at a variety of portable light sources and look at examples of Light Paintings that can be created using each of them
- Light Painting Creations (including ‘How to create the perfect Orb’)
We take a closer look at several of the more popular forms of Light Painting: Orbs, Ribbons, Physiograms, Domes and Star Trails. I describe in complete detail with photographic illustrations and descriptions how you set about making each one. Every year I receive lots of emails from people asking me how I create my Orbs – this topic is covered in great detail
- The Full Monty
Putting everything into practice. Join me on a night photography Light Painting shoot where we look at the entire creative process from start to finish
I have not held anything back, as I wanted to share everything with you that I have learned over the past five years. This book is truly a labour of love and I hope you find it incredibly helpful.
This E-book is 55 pages long, costs only £12 and is absolutely crammed with useful information and helpful tips.
As always, thanks for showing an interest in me and my work and the very best of luck with your Light Painting journey.
David

It's time I allowed the Little People to have a bit of a holiday seeing as I have worked them so incredibly hard this year.
I too am taking a little bit of a break soon (Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games) and it also feels like it's time to focus on something a little bit different for the next little while. The Little Peeps have kept me extremely busy this year, and I feel like I need to turn my attention to something a little less time consuming (learning about what is in store once we have our baby takes up a lot of time).
So it's thanks form me, and the Little People, for all the recent interest - they shall return later this year!
Thanks also to Andy for the recent pep talk - you know who you are my friend! And Amy - I hope you approve of my selection of sweets! ;o)
It's a Small World!
Today has been such an amazing day, and as expected Léa has been spoiled rotten! ;o) Thank you so much to all of Léa's wonderful friends and family for helping make her feel so special today - there are presents everywhere! (Photos to follow of course.)
And so here endeth the 365 of Léa. I'm so happy that I have managed to document our beautiful little angel's 1st year with us so thoroughly and who knows...I may keep taking a photo-a-day of her until I get properly told off...

Got really itchy feet at around 9:30pm so decided the best cure was a quick drive and a star trail. The lens started fogging up badly after 30 minutes so this is as long as the trails were going to get tonight.

What a night that was. I had another 5 incredibly talented photographers on tonight's Light Painting Workshop, and it was an absolute pleasure teaching them. The fog rolled in mid-way through the Workshop but it made for some pretty dramatic conditions in the end!
For anyone out there who would like to learn more about Light Painting, or perhaps just perfect their Orb spinning skills, my E-book is now available to purchase via my website:

Well, after what has been a very exciting week for us, I needed a quick break from all the baby talk. So it was nice to have a little time out with my camera, to take a few photos of one of my favourite confectionery items: Jelly Bab....DARN IT!

The new journey begins....
Been AGES since I headed out to make new light painting work on my own, and for myself. My favourite form of therapy!
Managed to squeeze in a couple of hours of LP in the blackout studio today and learned so much about so many new tools. I’m so excited!

It is never truly dark.
To Write Love On Her Arms:
TWLOHA is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.
Earlier this year I created a body of work especially for TWLOHA. By adding light to darkness (by way of Light Painting), I hope my photography conveys this important message: It is never truly dark.
I find the concept of being present in each of the photographs yet remaining invisible quite incredible. I have an undeniable presence in each photograph yet there is no evidence that I was there other than the light sculptures that have been left behind.
Some individuals will associate nighttime with negativity, as natural light has faded, leaving everything in darkness. However, as my photography proves at the end of each long exposure, there is still an element of natural light there, proving that it is never truly dark.
You can find out more about TWLOHA by visiting their website www.TWLOHA.com and you can also find out more about this particular body of work here: twloha.com/blog/it-never-truly-dark
I am donating 50% of all proceeds raised through the sale of my Light Painting E-book from the following link to TWLOHA: www.davidgilliver.com/photography/twloha/
