Nice to have a bit of a ride round on the bikes too!! 👍 Approx 135 miles round trip!
Dave is a long term/time Flickr friend/contact..
See his very cool pictures here!! -
Up one of the follies at Tschumi's Parc De La Villette in Paris. And yes, what a terrifically awful poser I am.
Trying out Dave's new 85mm f1.4 Nikkor. Such a lovely lens. The brick wall behind Dave is less than a metre behind him, yet has become such a smooth, milky bokeh.
This is my father-in-law Dave and the write up he got when he was named Volunteer of the Month at the Doylestown Hospital where he works. Yay Dave!
January 2013 Volunteer of the Month
Dave Gordon (SDS)
Dave Gordon was born in Mt. Vernon, New York and grew up “all over the place.” His father, William F. Gordon, designed and built golf courses, so the family moved a number of times around the eastern part of the country before eventually settling down in Mt. Airy. In 1936, the family moved to Plumstead Township. Dave graduated from Doylestown High School in 1940.
Dave started at Penn State University before being called into the service in 1942. He served more than three years in the Army Air Force as a pilot instructor. Dave returned to college after his service and graduated in 1947 with a degree in Agronomy. He was inspired by his father to build golf courses, and worked with his father until the early 1950s. Dave would later focus on designing golf courses. Among the courses he designed and built in Pennsylvania are Saucon Valley in Upper Saucon, Old York Road in Spring House and Whitford in Exton. He also designed several other courses, including Hidden Hills in Jacksonville, Florida and Richelieu Valley in Montreal. Dave retired from the business in the late 1980s.
Dave has two sons, David and Bill, from his first wife. He married his second wife, Jane, in 1974.and she had a daughter, Lynn who he took on as his new daughter. He has three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Several years ago, Jane fell ill and spent one and a half months in ICU at Doylestown Hospital. Dave says he really got to know the nurses, whom he grew to admire for their professionalism and compassion. “I can never say enough about them,” he says. “The patient always came first.” Sadly, Jane passed away in 2007. The nurses Dave had befriended encouraged him to start volunteering at the hospital. Dave started volunteering in Same Day Services in July 2007 and currently works two afternoons a week.
His duties in SDS include checking in and discharging patients. Dave also continually checks on the progress of the patients during their procedures and updates family in the waiting area. “I like meeting the patients and the families and working with the nurses,” he says. “It’s just a nice job.” His volunteer job gives him something important to do and he enjoys doing it. Besides, it “keeps me out of trouble,” he jokes.
Dave lives in Doylestown. He enjoys working with cameras and taking photographs. He likes working on the computer and spending time with friends.
We congratulate Dave for being the January 2013 Volunteer of the Month and thank him for his 2,711 hours of service to Doylestown Hospital.

I was walking through Millennium Park. Dave and his wife were relaxing on a park bench. I asked if I could take their photo; they agreed without any hesitation. They are from San Francisco and visiting their son in Chicago. I explained the 100 stranger photo project to them. Thanks
