Well, technically a stranger no more. But that's part of the point, isn't it?
My wife and I visited a local winery, Dynasty Cellars, yesterday to pick out a bottle of wine for a group dinner last evening. We were doing a little tasting and relaxing by the fire when Dave walked in, toting equipment for his gig at the winery that afternoon. As he was setting up, we got to chatting about music trivia, family and work. I found him to be a very interesting and nice guy -- an environmental planner, quick with a smile and possessing an encyclopedic knowledge of music. For instance, did you know that "Come Together" by the Beatles was autobiographical? Neither did I.....until yesterday. He plays professionally around the Bellingham area: Dave Nellis Music.
I had placed this project on hiatus for nearly 5 months and figured meeting Dave was the perfect opportunity to jump back in. From a technical standpoint this shot presented some challenges, as it was shot indoors without a flash. Dave was seated in a spot where the light was splashing against the wall, so I took advantage of it but still had to push the ISO to 6400.

I found Dave listening to a steel drum band set up on a float in, of all places, downtown Napanee. They were loud so I used hand signals to ask if I would be allowed to photograph him. He indicated yes. End of story.
