**Lexington Historic District** - National Register of Historic Places Ref # 72001506, date listed 7/26/1972
Roughly bounded by Chesapeake and Ohio RR, Graham and Jackson Aves., and Estill and Jordan Sts.
Lexington, VA (Independent City)
Nestled in the Rockbridge County countryside, the well-known community of Lexington boasts a rich history and outstanding architectural variety. Building types range from Shenandoah Valley vernacular forms through sophisticated examples of Romantic Revivalism. Lending luster are works by the nationally prominent architects Thomas U. Walter, Alexander Jackson Davis, and Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue. The town was authorized in 1778, and was a prospering county seat by the 1790s. Growth was stimulated by the establishment of Washington and Lee University and the Virginia Military Institute. Their adjoining campuses constitute one of America’s celebrated architectural assemblages. Scattered through the shady residential areas is a delightful mix of dwelling types. Prominent representatives are the Federal Reid-White-Philbin House of 1821, and the Presbyterian Manse, an archetypal Gothic Revival villa. The Lexington Historic District is now protected by historic zoning with the commercial area having undergone extensive rehabilitation spearheaded by the Historic Lexington Foundation.
Additional documentation to update the 1971-1972 Lexington Historic District nomination was accepted to the National Register in 2019. (1)

Mom in Dad's sailboat at Corpus Christi in 1945.
While in Corpus Christi, Dad went in with a few other aviation cadets to buy a used sailboat. Dad was the only one of the group who had any sailing experience, and that was only a single previous outing with a friend on the Chesapeake Bay. But somehow they made a go of it, and on weekends when they could get time off, they would invite girls from the WAVES to go out with them. I think the boat was one of the things that first attracted my mother to my dad.
The small town of Marion, Kansas has at least a dozen similar beautiful and detailed hand-carved limestone buildings on Main Street. The dated stone at the top of this structure has broken off but was likely between 1880 and 1900.

last week there was a news published in the local news paper said a date tree in the velanai west for many years. I shocked because that was my father's village and i hadn't know about this till now i went there yesterday and took some pictures of the tree. i didn't see the date tree even in a picture and till i don't sure about weather is it a date tree or not..?
This is on the Seafood Restaurant on North Quay. The building was previously a public house called The Lord Nelson but that pub existed before 1895 so maybe this date denotes a rebuild or a makeover.

Clock tower of Gloucester Building. Built on the site of the old Hong Kong Hotel after the 1926 New Year fire which destroyed the hotel, for a long time the building, with its distinctive clock tower, was a landmark in Central. It was also the tallest building in Hong Kong when it was completed in the late 1920s. The nine-storey building was finally demolished in 1977 to make way for the present Gloucester Tower and the atrium of the Landmark.
Stonefly and Salmon Fly hatches are prolific on the Metolius...but only at a certain times. Hatches come on and go off. We've seen it happen with various types of bugs...mayflys, sedges and these the ugliest of bugs.
To fly fish is to be introduced to entomology. You'll never look at a river or lakeside the same, again.
