The signage of the Apollo 11 Restaurant at 1093 Bathurst Street just south of Dupont Street dates this restaurant as surely as anything else I could imagine. At one point the name must have seen up-to-date and futuristic. Now it isn't even retro-futuristic; it's just kitsch.

PERSONAL FUN FACT: This line is quite gimmicky. Who would think to combine slime with a doll set? I guess that speaks to the children of today. Personally, even as a child, I would have been mortified by such a gimmick. Stuffing doll accessories full of sticky slime? NO WAY! I can imagine all the lint and cat fur it would collect over time. Gimmick aside, this gal is absolutely lovely. Admittedly I didn't pay her much mind in stores. I really only glance at the Rainbow High dolls when they are on sale. I stalk Bratz and American Girls brand new, waiting for markdowns. For everything else, I just check in from time to time to see if there are deals. I got super lucky one Monday afternoon at Walmart, in September of 2025. Colleen was home from work with a cold (which she gave me...how lucky!). We didn't have any cold medicine at home, so we went to Walmart to procure some so we could sleep better. Of course, while we were there we had to investigate the toy section too. I hadn't bothered to pop in the previous Friday when I was grocery shopping, since there was an employee in the dolly aisle. Anyways, the dolls that had already been marked down on "clearance" were FINALLY actually a deal. I'm sorry, but I don't consider $18 a deal for a doll like this. She was marked down to $10 by Monday. I found Amaya from this same line at Target over the summer that year. I think Violet was also on sale, but I chose my favorite doll from the set since I didn't want to buy them all. Weirdly, Violet was the only doll discounted from this wave at Walmart. I was excited to see that she came with pierced ears but no jewelry...that meant handmade earrings! She's my first full sized Violet Willow doll, and boy is she a beauty!

Centreville, AL (Bibb County)
The twenty-six structures comprising the Centreville Historic District focus on the 1902 Bibb County Courthouse (11) and Court Square and consist primarily of late-19th and ear1y-20th century commercial and governmental structures reflecting the character of a turn-of-the-century rural county seat.
When the 1828 Bibb County Commission considered the site for a permanent county seat, it selected the community of Centreville because of its location as the center of the county. The county's first court house had been built here on the west banks of the Cahaba River, but the site chosen for the third and permanent seat was the hill on the east bank. The higher ground would help alleviate the problem with malaria which had been so severe on the lower-lying west bank. Incorporated in 1832, the town of Centreville grew up around the new frame courthouse erected on the spacious square.
Bibb County Courthouse (Court Square): 1902; 2 stories with corner tower, brick, Victorian eclectic with strong Romanesque influence, stone lintels and sills, dentilled cornice and pediment, square-headed and arched windows, corner domes. (1)
