Well, this was it!! Well jel of all the snowy pictures appearing over the last few days!! Sky was sooooo heavy but no more fell!! Had a beautiful crisp frosty, sunny day yesterday and I was stuck work!! :-(

Editors Note...
Once a year a pull out a few sets from years past to start of the new year. In 2024 this year I have went back & revamped one of my favorite severe storms photo shoots of 2018
Back then I over colorized & over saturated the images. Pixelated & not my best work... Images were what I wanted but not the final product. If you want to see those to compare to these remastered images... here is your Flickr Link to that set of images...
But these are Gems of Gems.. I've even added about 50+ images in this set that I wasn't able to work on back in 2018. I even made a video with the old images to kick off the 2023 season... Lightning is my forte... It is why I chase storms. To have an photo opportunity come up like this & traveled only 6 blocks from my home to get these pics...Gotta Luv Nebraska!

About that evening...
An epic night of sunset light and storm light @ twilight. Its almost every storm chasers dreams... or at least, in my own opinion, to get along side of a storm like this, as its firing away some incredible CC & CG every few seconds. What more could you ask for...
I was that Lucky Guy that evening. Just mother nature and I. Close to home after a few long storm chasing jaunts is just fine by me. She was producing and I was capturing every incredible second of this storm.. No Forking Bolt went away that evening without me getting a snap of its presence..

Finally out in front of this storm again. We had a long drive south just to get in Northern Buffalo County in South Central Nebraska.
Cloud to cloud lightning was firing off every few seconds. This storm meant business, and was growing into a monster.
We parked a few miles outside of town and waited for this to creep ever so closer.

It has been an excellent start to the 2016 chase Season. Bonus was, that I had the day off and no commitments except for storm chasing. I was set for an Epic Day!
I ended up with well over 700 pic from this storm chasing event, but I've skimmed it down to about 100+. Truly this will become some of my best severe weather photography to date...
I was seriously late the game on this storm. But I was never out of the game. I had now positioned myself just to the North of Wray Colorado.
Strategically, you want to be to the south east, southwest for the best light... It's all about timing, and I thought it wouldn't produce till it was well west of my location. Giving me that perfect view of the backside rotation of the storm.
In my opinion, I found a perfect view, looking due south southeast. I ended up on the northwest side of the rotation. Dangerous yes...but this will eventually give me one excellent view of this tornado and all her glory.

High voltage power transmission lines in a thunderstorm. Salt Lake County, Utah. For the Telegraph Tuesday group. HTT!
Oh how the weather changes! Within 2 minutes of the previous photo the sunlight had started to fade and in came the dark clouds.
On the drive home from Huddersfield.
It was a weird day. It would rain one minute, the sun would come out, then clouds would move in and the wind blew so hard I could hardly hold my camera, muchless put it on a tripod. Then as we were leaving we saw the rainbow. Just a buffet of weather conditions.
This was one of the dark cloudy moments in between rain.
Thankfully the thundery looking clouds floated off in another direction. Taken at The National Botanic Gardens of Wales.

Solo Chase Day & Close to Home....
Luv it when the chases are in my backyard. Not having to drive 3 states and 1200 miles in 1 day is relief. I know I'm not the only chaser that says that. This was a phenomenal afternoon of severe weather. When I say this... It means that its photogenic & for the most part not effecting the farms, agriculture, livestock & the human element.
Mammatus before the storm, then I decided to bail on this first storm for the next which was to the north about 25 miles. This storm had wicked good rotation under the base. Even though it was high based it was producing some freakin awesome views.
The storm had overtaken my position and I had a 40 min drive to get back in front of this storm. It was on my tail the whole way back to the I-80 corridor. Though a little late I was still able to get back in front of shelf cloud. The teeth on the outflow were almost scraping the ground. It gave the effect of a funnel but it was not. Been doing this to long to make sure I know the difference.
That was a hoot. Though I waited til the last minute. I got swallowed by the core & had to wait it out. Want to see what its like out in the open with no shelter... This I have also done a billion times. 50mph winds rocked my truck! That was fun!
Finally, I blazed it backed to Kearney for this Storms Finale... Beautiful Sunset light illuminates the exiting storm with a Anvil Rain & Mammatus Cluster ... It was truly a Sight to See!!!!

I have not gone to this place for a quite few years. I decided to go check it out. There was not much activities but at least the sunrise was special. Florida Sunrise always packs a surprise.
Spectacular Sunrise this morning with golden sun rays peeping through the dark clouds!

A fleeting shaft of light illuminates trees on the south bank of Loch Shieldaig contrasting with the dark darks over the mountains of Torridon beyond.
THE RAIN COMETH
I was at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City and it was a great time to be there considering the oncoming rain storm that would dump some torrential rains in the dry lake beds and most of boulder city.
This is the Milky Way of the autumn season in the Northern Hemisphere, on a late September night, from the very dark site of Red Rock Canyon, in Waterton Lakes National Park, Canada. The scene is a 360° panorama taking in the entire sky, taken about 11:00 pm. Illumination is solely by starlight. Being autumn, the larches and aspens are in autumn colours. Snow is on Mount Blakiston at left, while the sharp peak at right is Anderson Peak.
The galactic centre is toward the southwest at bottom, though Sagittarius itself had set by the time I shot this panorama. The bright star cloud of Scutum is above the mountains. The Milky Way stretches up through Aquila, through the Summer Triangle stars, with the Cygnus starcloud below centre. At centre is the dark nebula known as the Funnel Nebula. Above it, and above centre, the Milky Way continues through Cepheus, Cassiopeia, and into Perseus. The stars of Auriga and Taurus are just rising in the northeast at top. The Andromeda Galaxy is the fuzzy spot at left of centre. The Pleiades are above the mountains at top left. The dark lanes along the Milky Way are obvious, and with differing densities and opacities.
At left is the faint Zodiacal Band, and the brighter diffuse glow of the Gegenschein, in Pisces at this time of year. This glow is always at the point in the sky opposite the Sun, where cometary dust particles reflect sunlight directly back to Earth.
To the right the sky is colored red by a dim aurora to the north, and by airglow.
My other camera is in the scene, shooting a time-lapse of the Milky Way motion.
This is a multi-tier panorama, consisting of 48 segments (!), in 4 tiers of 12 segments each, taken with the iPano motorized panning unit. Each exposure was 30 seconds at f/2 with the 24mm lens and Canon 6D at ISO 6400. Stitching was with PTGui, which did it flawlessly. The original image is 12,000 x 12,000 pixels.
A lone figure stands in the shallow waters off Point Richmond as the first major storm of the 2018–19 rainy season sweeps across San Francisco Bay. Heavy clouds, shifting light, and wind transformed an ordinary shoreline into a dramatic coastal scene for just a few moments before the rain arrived.
