Louisville, Colorado. The "notch" in the mountains is El Dorado Springs State Park. I fear for the future of this view: it's very likely to be filled with a dense neighborhood. Arrrggg.
Watching the storm approach Bentonville last Sunday was awesome. The clouds were an ominous omen to the downpour that arrived shortly after this photo was made. That weather provided some amazing light and contrast for photography up until the rain arrived.
On the gear side, I'm definitely going to have to try to convert my Pronto Sonar to use i-Type and 600 film. I brought it for color and my manual focus Pronto (that is already converted) for black and white. They both performed quite well, but the Sonar could use a mirror cleaning. I think once converted, it will be my favorite Polaroid box camera.

A wicked bad day of severe weather in South Central Nebraska. For more information on that day... NWS Official Report.
A tornadic supercell with an Ef1 or Ef2 tornado struck the city of Kearney late afternoon. The aftermath wasn't pretty. I sure wanted to be out chasing but I was scheduled for work, and missed the entire historic event.
Power was out, but I did have the camera batteries charged. Geared up, with camera in hand after I got home from work. I took a few minutes during clean up that night to capture these incredible cloudscapes that were on the back side of the storms.
These were the final rays, the last light of the day. These clouds were truly some spectacular stormscape captures to end that day of severe weather!

One of my favourite lonely tree locations with the bonus of April showery conditions. Should have offset the tree a little more to the right, but had to get out of the car quickly and grab a couple of shots before this wonderful light disappeared. Sony A7II/70-200mm.

Early August storm cells are usually non severe and with little to no precip. Though the dry air creates some of the best photographic scenarios you could ask for if you love clouds... especially storms in Nebraska.
I had the afternoon off and was ready for that afternoons chase. Camera in hand, and storms moving into northern Buffalo County from the northwest...I was ready to catch some incredible storm captures.
August has always been my month to capture some of my best pics. This set of captures was just the first of many to come!

It was my last hurrah for 2017.
I had a little time to kill. So I drove under this cell to get on back side of this storm. I knew that the light was perfect for ambient light.
Might as well take advantage of it before I headed south to the cells i would end up chasing that afternoon. I couldn't have asked for a better natural lighting! Thank You Mother Nature!

Within 5 mins torrential rain swept across the gardens and vineyards, transforming the bright Tuscan colors to different shades of grey and dropping temperature almost 10 degrees within a blink of the eye. An hour later sun broke through the clouds and a mild weather resumed.

Shot through the windshield at 4:47 pm. Enhanced a bit to bring out the faint crepuscular rays.

Almost mid July in Nebraska. This means ... Boilermaker...
It was 102 when I left Kearney. Hot Humid and uncomfortable. But when storms come, I'm not going to miss these special photographic opportunities. You can always count me in with camera in hand.
Had a moderate threat for severe weather on this day to the south and east of South Central Nebraska. Knowing this, Hwy 6 east through Hastings and then South of Clay center was battle ground for storms to develop. I was in position, but this day would be a bust as the storms would cap and no strong development came out of these storm cells.

last night's sunset and fisherman captured during my bike ride along the lakeshore of Mexico's largest lake, Lago de Chapala.

The Twelve Apostles is a collection of limestone stacks off the shore of Port Campbell National Park. Their proximity to one another has made the site a popular tourist attraction. Currently there are eight apostles left but the name remains significant and spectacular especially in the Australian tourism industry. The apostles were formed by erosion: the harsh and extreme weather conditions from the South Ocean gradually eroded the soft limestone to form caves in the cliffs, which then became arches, which in turn collapsed; leaving rock stacks up to 45metres high. The site was known as the Sow and Piglets until 1922 (Muttonbird Island, near Loch Ard Gorge, was the Sow, and the smaller rock stacks were the Piglets); after which it was renamed to The Apostles for tourism purposes. The formation eventually became known as the Twelve Apostles.

Went scouting yesterday at a beach at selsey with me son. I wasn't going to take me kit, i just wanted to check it out. Glad i did cause the clouds broke and the sun became the staring protagonist for a good 30 mins, So i had a play as always with some verto work.
A brief moment of light broke through the dark clouds just after torrential summer rains lighting up the imax theatre at the Glasgow science center
