Water is the source of all life ..... This is my justification of living life in the Pennines, where it rains more than the sun shines!

Had a to pull off for a few minutes to get my bearings on the storm.

Cells just my west were building and I had few moments to get some captures from the outer rim of this storm.

Humid and the mosquitoes were eating me alive...

I wouldn't have to chase this evening to catch some incredible Nebraska views of this supercell that formed just to the north of Hastings Nebraska. The perfect sunlight cresting against this storm cell was perfect in every way. I knew I was in for a treat. Just a few blocks from home I set up shop!

We had a dying cell to our west creating a beautiful sunset and I would eventually get a few snaps of this. Though was pointing due east from my location on the outskirts of Kearney Nebraska. It had all of my attention. 4 Cameras in position for this event. Pointing due east I was watching these billowing thunderheads on the updraft and it was a sight to see.

I also knew then that this was going to produce come incredible lighting after dark. I was prepared and ready!

Not officially a storm chase, this severe thunderstorm scooted just to the west of Elm Creek Nebraska. I couldn't resist!

It has been a rather long wait cycle for storms here in South Central Nebraska. Most of all of the action has been around us but never close enough for my ability to chase them this year. So you can about imagine when this was coming close that I wouldn't miss this opportunity.

Its the first true firing of storms here in south central Nebraska and that means the season has finally started. Can't wait for the next events which will be this coming week!

Ski runs in the summer give the striped effect to the landscape, with dark bands of trees adjacent to green grassy areas, stripped of trees.

This is a view of Breckenridge Ski Resort, taken from Cucumber Gulch Nature Reserve. The massive resort, spread over five peaks boasts 155 ski runs, the longest at 3.5 miles (5.6km). The base elevation of the town of Breckenridge is 9600 ft (2926m), and the highest elevation is 12988ft (3962m).

Weather conditions change rapidly in the mountains, as shown in this picture and the previous picture (also shown in the first comment), taken about 20 minutes apart.

Small patches of snow still remain in the mountains in September.

On the right it is already raining .....

These are truly My Best Lightning Captures to date!

An epic night of sunset light and storm light @ twilight. Its almost every storm chasers dreams... or at least, in my own opinion, to get along side of a storm like this, as its firing away some incredible CC & CG every few seconds. What more could you ask for...

I was that Lucky Gut that evening. Just mother nature and I. Close to home after a few long storm chasing jaunts is just fine by me. She was producing and I was capturing every incredible second of this storm.. No Forking Bolt went away that evening without me getting a snap of its presence.. lol

I took this photo just before the storm entered my area. It caught my eye because the clouds seemed to have formed it's own impressions. At times, it looked angry and pleasant all at once. You can see some of the clouds appear to be very dark and dense in appearance. There's uneven texture throughout. That's what I mean by saying "the clouds seemed to have formed it's own impressions".

Really bad weather caught me on my way home. Those dark clouds delivered heavy rain and hail.

We had to pack up and move south via Hwy 283 South then Head due east of Hwy 89. This route takes us though Beaver City, Orleans, and eventually just north of Alma Nebraska.

Now just north of Alma Nebraska...

We didn't allow us much time to find a suitable spot for us to the base of the storm. A few things to note here.

When we chase, SAFETY is the number 1 thing that I stress to the individuals that chase with me. I have to practice what I preach.

We have to find a safe spot to pull off and get the pics, vids. Once we make this choice to pull off when always include a EXIT plan before we stop. (Chasing for all these years, I've learned a very valuable lesson. Never stop unless you have an open an safe exit area when chasing severe weather

We had limited time when we stopped. Storm was approaching fast from the southwest. Where we stopped I wasn't considering how high the corn here in Nebraska in late August. We didn't get a choice to move. It was now or never. So we stopped & set up fast and got with I could with 4k @ ground level.

It was our best structure of severe weather 2021. Defined Meso... Eye Candy Structure.... What more could we ask for!

On the Last Stormchase of the Summer. I had to make this one count. First chase in my new truck. I couldn't have asked for a better Nebraska Stormscape Scenario!

Found and open spot just to the south of Merna Nebraska. Had the perfect view and this thunderstorm was talking!

Loaded all the gear out and started my thing. This truly would become one of my best photographic outings for storms in 2020. Glad I made the effort to go. In spite I just had major surgery 3 days before!

Happy Polaroid Week to all who celebrate! ('Roid Week as Flickr calls it).

Polaroid Week welcomes instant photos of any type or make. All of my past contributions were shot with Polaroid SX-70 film on one of my two refurbished SX-70 cameras. But SX-70 film is getting increasingly difficult to obtain; Polaroid still manufactures it, but apparently only a few times a year and it sells out fast. I'm going to have one of my SX-70 cameras serviced to shoot Polaroid 600 film, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

In the meantime I bought a Fujifilm Instax SQ6 a while back and some Square Instax film (expired by the time I shot these 😄). Cheaper than any current Polaroid film and much more forgiving than SX-70 film, I may post instant photos more often. Anyway, here're two for 'Roid Week, Spring 2026, day 2.

Here, historic Union Church ("historically Black, multicultural, and LGBTQ+ empowering") in Boston's South End.

The ominous sky in contrast to the beautiful 'golden hour' light caught my eye on this street in Quebec.

That huge dark cloud on south left might creat dropping snow, granted beyond snow again!!!

The light and weather were amazing on Saturday. I had almost every season and weather conditions (other than rain - thankfully, or snow - what a pity)!

A spectacular sight of rain at a distance as it approaches us as viewed from the top of Aguada Fort.

The fort was constructed in 1612 to guard against the Dutch and the Marathas. It was a reference point for the vessels coming from Europe at that time. During the Salazar Administration, Fort Aguada was repurposed for use as a prison primarily, some claim, for Salazar's political opponents.

Editors Note...

Once a year a pull out a few sets from years past to start of the new year. In 2024 this year I have went back & revamped one of my favorite severe storms photo shoots of 2018

Back then I over colorized & over saturated the images. Pixelated & not my best work... Images were what I wanted but not the final product. If you want to see those to compare to these remastered images... here is your Flickr Link to that set of images...

But these are Gems of Gems.. I've even added about 50+ images in this set that I wasn't able to work on back in 2018. I even made a video with the old images to kick off the 2023 season... You can watch this right here on Flickr... Click Here ** Please remember I used the old images in this video **

Lightning is my forte... It is why I chase storms. To have an photo opportunity come up like this & traveled only 6 blocks from my home to get these pics...Gotta Luv Nebraska!
