Ok, so here's something a little stronger and more in keeping with my usual fare. I keep forgetting to post this, but I do quite like it actually. Once of my better recent shots!
Lord Street in October
The exiled Prince Louis Napoleon lived in Southport in 1838 and admired the long straight wide tree-lined Lord Street.
Later, he remembered Lord Street's elegance when he returned to France as Emperor Napoleon 111, and transformed Paris with its now famous Boulevards.
Harriet.
Still @ college but already modelling professionally.
It seems no time at all since she was cartwheeling up the street.

5" x 7" acrylic on watercolor paper, using watercolor techniques. I decided to mask off some of the brightest areas and then leave them stark white at the finish...something I don't usually do. I am still deciding if I want to glaze a bit a warmth onto the highlights. :) UPDATE: I have added warmth to the path and just a hint to the fence. I think it looks much better. Wish I knew how to add the other version to this thread. Thanks for all your help my friends!

2024 Weekly Alphabet Challenge 30/52 ~ Dappled Light
Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. All comments and Faves are very much appreciated
Gorgeously bright day, Edinburgh very busy with both locals and tourists on a sunny Saturday. Walked through the Grassmarket and found a group holding an open-air Tango session. Dancing right there under the dappled spring sunshine coming through the newly leafy trees, casting a lovely mix of bright light and shade that was just begging for some monochrome shots. Was lovely to see people enjoying themselves like this in the middle of a busy Saturday, right there in a busy square, under the shadow of the Castle.
Back out in the garden at lunch again today. This is my cute little deck chair thing I bought at a festival in Hyde Park many years ago - it's surprisingly comfortable.
Super busy work day - again - and struggled to finish work by 6:30pm. We had an all staff meeting on Teams today - discussing budgets, remote working, our eventual return to the office, etc - then I had a catch up with Char and Mags and then another one with Char and Paul.
Relaxing evening to start the long weekend - and early-ish to bed so that we could get up for a bike ride in the morning :)
Sitting on the deck in the sweltering Canada Day heat here in Grimsby, Ontario, the sun was mercifully setting when I spotted the dappled, residual light illuminating some containers filled with daffodil bulbs dug up the day before and now drying to prepare them for fall planting. This is simply an exercise in taking advantage of natural lighting and colour to create a still life. - JW

On a walk around Mona Vale May 7, 2016 Christchurch New Zealand.
Mona Vale, with its homestead formerly known as Karewa, is a public park of 4 ha in the Christchurch suburb of Fendalton. The homestead and gate house are both listed as heritage buildings with the New Zealand Historic Places Trust (NZHPT). The fernery and the rose garden, and pavilion with the setting of the park along the Avon River, add to the attractiveness of the property. It is one of the major tourist attractions of Christchurch.

The dappled light and spotty bright leaves in this early Nov 2018 pic from Marietta Ohio's Sacra Via Park reminds me of a Monet painting. — at Sacra Via Park.
a couple of weeks back me and andrew went to look for our wonderful red squirrels
and they didn’t let us down, at one point we had six of them scurrying around our feet in a forest in beautiful dappled light – quite magical!
however the light was making metering a nightmare, so i didn’t get as many shots as last time
there are a number of old tree stumps we put some nuts in, and just as i was adding some a beautiful little chap ran up and just looked at me expectantly – so i offered him a nut and andrew got the below shot that i just had to share with you as it was my favourite shot of the day – see andrew’s shot below (that’s my hand!)
* also just on a separate note – i know it’s desperately sad about april jones – but please don’t release balloons and lanterns, please find another way of showing support as they are devastating to wildlife *
INFO about outdoor balloon and sky lantern releases
(PLEASE NO AWARDS OR PICTURES OR FLASHY BADGES)
The incredible light continued as I pushed on a retraced my steps (and compositions) along the route I took on a very snow covered Edale in November. This was the first composition I re-found and it turned out to be the only one that really worked without the snow.

There is a tree lined street in Redcliffe where the trees meet in the middle creating a wonderful canopy.
The trees are Moreton Bay Fig trees and the coolness you feel walking under here is just wonderful.
They have not long ago been quite heavily trimmed, but still look great!
