I came across this photo today and cannot recall seeing it ever! There was a period of time when my folks didn’t take many photos of us. Most likely that my twin brother made this shot.
A couple weeks ago I walked over to Durand Eastman Park for my morning reading and prayers. I put the Argus C3 in the daypack. The sun was filtering through the trees most delightfully. I took several photographs around me from where I was sitting as the light changed, and one more straight up.

After our Nature Cruise we heading back to Te Anau where we were staying the night. On the way we did the Chasm walk which was spectacular.
Day five of our fast trip around the South Island with my friends from the UK. November 6, 2013 New Zealand.
Two foot bridges over the Cleddau River offer dramatic views of a series of powerful waterfalls.
Thousands of years of swirling water have sculpted shapes and basins in the narrow rock formations, making interesting sculptures of nature.
The sheer velocity of water gives an appreciation of how much rainfall the Milford Sound area receives per annum.
It was a symphony of sight and sound throughout the 15 min walk into the heart of the Chasm.

I could not get a shot of the one in the shadows. He darted in and out quite quickly. That is, until I got this shot of the less shy one and he just happened to get in the frame. I did not notice his presence until later on the computer.
Like a miniature dinosaur.
Horns sprout from the head with bony core in swept-back shape. All the spikes are enlarged scales. These adaptations provide the animal excellent protection and heat control for its size.
Lizards flourish in the Gila region. On a sunny hillside above Railroad Canyon I met several horned lizards, including this one.
It is simple to have a good study of one of these because their primary defense is to run for just a bit, and then freeze suddenly in attempt to lose the predator. When it comes time for them to eat, horned lizards are sit-and-wait hunters. Essentially they don't like to move much, only when necessary.
These are reptilian ant eaters.
I did not put one in a sandwich, because their blood tastes foul to mammal predators. The horned lizard has this awesome advanced defense to burst capillaries right near the eye to squirt unexpectedly large amounts of blood from its face. Also, I did not need to bother him as I carried plenty of food.

Gorgeously bright day, Edinburgh very busy with both locals and tourists on a sunny Saturday. Walked through the Grassmarket and found a group holding an open-air Tango session. Dancing right there under the dappled spring sunshine coming through the newly leafy trees, casting a lovely mix of bright light and shade that was just begging for some monochrome shots. Was lovely to see people enjoying themselves like this in the middle of a busy Saturday, right there in a busy square, under the shadow of the Castle.
We had the pleasure of spending a morning at a private garden location in Lancashire to photograph a wild Tawny Owl. This is the matriarch, who has a brood of chicks and is very confident . She comes down to feed almost every day .
I've been experimenting enough lately, so something a bit more mainstream is in order.
Used my new Nikon 70-300 lens to spy on this guy/gal and noticed that I was the one being spied on.
The next shoot I need to remember to bring a small broom. Joella would not get into the smal square because of bugs. A girl has to know when to say no. I respect that.

Day 38/365
Feeling invigorated by the smell of autumn leaves and the bright colors I went hunting for good photo locations in the woods. I found a stone wall in a little wooded park near my flat but the base was completely snowed under with garbage, a bloody needle crunched under my foot and I was suddenly terrified and then deeply grateful I had chosen to wear tall wood heeled boots of thick leather. I took some photos there, determined to catch the dreadful beauty of the garbage in the dappled orange autumn sun, but the garbage subsumed me and the images looked like I shouldn’t really be there. They were portraits of a place. I became frightened after a while, there were so many terrible things on the ground, this is the last image I took, when I realized I had to get out of there, when the garbage began to feel predatory.
As if golden sand beaches, towering seaside cliffs, crashing waves, and verdant jungles were not enough to keep a photographer busy enough for a couple of weeks, Kauai tossed in a rainbow forest to the mix just to keep things even more interesting.

i had the idea for this shot, but because of the accidental exposure bias, it didn't turn out how I envisioned...but oh well, try again next year...the neighborhood trees are raining leaves beautifully right now. i know it's not going to last long.
Ide Hill village green to be specific - although it was the dappled light on the branches that prompted me to look again and take the picture - the green is just good to look at - very nice village near Sevenoaks - big mortgage anyone?
Scottish multicoloured Heather on the edge of part of the remaining Caledonian forest. Almost a feast for the eyes in such a huge sea of Green.
The kids' paddling pool in the park. The older kids think it's clever to ride their bikes through it, hence the tyre tracks.
Love the range of colors of the foliage at the moment, with the Sourwood leading the way with the red. :-)

Riverside Trees by River Severn
See how the stream does smoothly flow
Silently passing beneath branches that grow
Upon the steep banks that slant to sky
Seeking warm rays, so they can survive.
These leafy arms shade the muted stream
As it weaves its path in constant theme
Through dappled light its forms entrance
Leading the insects in merry dance.
A mossy cloak, worn by each tree
On northern parts that face the lea
And upon this moist and shaded side
The moss the cooler air imbibes.
A refreshing wind picks up and blows
Through the leaves and swaying boughs
Those rhythmic sounds add atmosphere
As the sun in evening, disappears.
The daytime kisses the night goodbye
And leaves us with a dusky sigh
While pungent aromas of mother earth
Rise to the sight of the universe.
There cannot be, a better place than this
Where one can enjoy eternal bliss
Than to stroll beneath the riverside trees
With contented mind… is heaven indeed!
