10 second shutter speed on this image. It was shot during the Harrison School for the Arts, Lakeland FL, for the 2009 Winter Dance Concert.
Couldn't see the mountain the first evening I was there, but I loved the moodiness of the park, with the clouds and all.

I attended a session on dancing with flour and if I learned one thing is that I don't ever want to do this myself. Its a bigger mess than you can imagine. Your camera has to be carefully taped into a plastic bag. Zip lock is good for this, just cut the bottom and tape it. I had a 5$ rain cover that was ruined by the tape.
You need high speed sync to freeze the flour in mid air, so this means speedlites or studio strobes that can do this.
After a few shots there is flour everywhere. Clothes, floor, in the air, and walls.
The model explained that she has to toss out her outfit at the end because it isn't salvageable after the shoot. It also takes days to eventually get the flour out of hair.
The owner of the studio mentioned that it also takes them a long time to get rid of the four as well, because even after it is cleaned up from the flour it will continue to settle out of the air, walls and ceiling for about 3-4 days.
It was still lots of fun and the dancer was a real pro.
