Current lineations, also called rill lineations and parting lineations, are sedimentary structures consisting of shallow grooves and ridges oriented essentially perpendicular to shoreline and parallel to the back-and-forth swash movement of waves. Current lineations form during a wave’s backwash phase.

From Diemer et al. (2012) - Building Stone Walking Tour of Uptown Charlotte:

The 1.5 acre urban pocket park known as the Green is located between the 400 block of South Tryon and South College Streets, immediately west of the Charlotte Convention Center. Designed by Wagner Murray Architects of Charlotte, it was completed in 2002 and sits directly on top of a 7-level underground parking structure.

Sandstone capping retaining walls

This fine-grained, plane-bedded sandstone, used throughout the Green as retaining wall caps, was quarried near Crossville, Tennessee. One of the capstones on the southern side of the plaza has ripple marks, others have parting lineation (the small ridges evidence on bedding planes where the stone has split). This stone was likely formed in a deltaic setting associated with an inland sea, as evidenced by its plant fossils.

Provenance: "Tennessee Bluestone" from a quarry near Crossville, Cumberland County, east-central Tennessee, USA

Locality: capstone atop retaining wall at "The Green", College Street & 2nd Street, downtown Charlotte, North Carolina, USA

At the world famous Piazza del Duomo in Florence. We were here to have a close up look at the Cathedral. The square was very busy packed with many tourists and visitors. So many amazing buildings around here!

Heading around to the side of the Cathedral on Piazza del Duomo that is next to Piazza San Giovanni. It appears that the section next to the Cathedral is still part of the Cathedral Square.

Florence Cathedral

Florence Cathedral, formally the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore (Italian pronunciation: [katteˈdraːle di ˈsanta maˈriːa del ˈfjoːre]; in English "Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Flower") is the cathedral of Florence, Italy, or Il Duomo di Firenze, in Italian. It was begun in 1296 in the Gothic style to a design of Arnolfo di Cambio and was structurally completed by 1436, with the dome designed by Filippo Brunelleschi. The exterior of the basilica is faced with polychrome marble panels in various shades of green and pink, bordered by white, and has an elaborate 19th-century Gothic Revival façade by Emilio De Fabris.

The cathedral complex, in Piazza del Duomo, includes the Baptistery and Giotto's Campanile. These three buildings are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site covering the historic centre of Florence and are a major tourist attraction of Tuscany. The basilica is one of Italy's largest churches, and until the development of new structural materials in the modern era, the dome was the largest in the world. It remains the largest brick dome ever constructed.

The cathedral is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Florence, whose archbishop is currently Giuseppe Betori.

This is another tribute to the Rockies and its early mining and farming... the following was retrieved from the next page of Crofutt's GripSack Guide of Colorado, Vol. II.---1885:

Teamsters, $25 to $35 per month and board.

Bullwhackers, $25 to $35 per month and board.

Muleskinners, $30 to $40 per month and board.

Farm Hands, $20 to $30 per month and board.

Cattle and Sheep Herders, $20 to $30 per month and board.

Brick Layers, $3.50 to $4.00 per day.

Cooks, $25 to $100 per month and board.

Harness Makers, $2.00 to $2.25 per day.

Coachmen, $15 to $25 per month and board.

Farm Boys, $10 to $15 per month and board.

Office Boys, $3 to $6 per week.

Waiters, $25 to $30 per month and board.

Dining-room girls, chambermaids, laundresses and general housework, $20 to $30 per month and board.

Clerks, from $1.00 to $5.00 per day—depends upon ability.

Board, from $4.50 to $6.00 per week.

Cooks, and girls for private families, are in great demand—all over the state.

It is best in coming to Colorado, hunting for work, to bring along a little money so you can pay your way into the mining regions, if you fail to obtain work in Denver, or the neighboring towns, and above all things, don’t come to Colorado unless you are determined to make a good honest record. Keep away from the gambling houses, barrooms and bagnios and you are all right; visit them, and you are lost; may be, with your “boots on.”          : George Crofutt, 1885.

Unfortunately, many of the buildings on this street are in poor condition and over they years the Ulster Architectural Heritage Society have tried their best to have many of them listed but in many cases they have failed.

The buildings at 95-107 North Street, Belfast which date back more than 100 years were demolished over a weekend at the beginning of December 2016.

The etched board. Generally, it came out fairly well -- well enough to attempt etching. There are still some toner stains on the bare areas of the board and a few deeper scratches in the copper, but those are only cosmetic and will be removed later. The edges aren't all as sharp as I'd have liked, but they should be functional. Several traces to the header on the left didn't transfer and were drawn in with etch-resist pen. A couple of places where the traces squeezed by pads under the IC (just right of the headers) got connected; scraping at the toner with a dental pick before etching cleared that up nicely.

Some transparent, gummy substance got transferred to the left side of the board. I didn't notice it until I'd already had the board in the ferric chloride. It resisted etching and may short some of the header pins. If so, a couple of seconds with a Dremel brush will take care of it.

The project is documented on my projects blog.

The existence of the estate in its current form goes back over 230 years to its creator Thomas Harley. But since then only two other families have owned the property; the Rodneys and the Cawleys.

Berrington was essentially created by one man, Thomas Harley, who bought the estate around 1775. He made his fortune as a banker and government contractor in London, but had long family links with Herefordshire, to which, in his mid-40s, he was keen to retire from the hurly-burly of City politics.

Harley commissioned ‘Capability’ Brown to lay out the park, which has spectacular views west towards Wales and the Black Mountains. Around 1778 he also called in Brown’s son-in-law, Henry Holland, to design him a new house in the latest French influenced Neo-classical style, using the finest London craftsman.

Harley had no male heir, but was delighted when in 1781 his daughter Anne married the son of Admiral Lord Rodney, a great naval commander.

On Harley’s death in 1804, Berrington passed to the Rodney family, who lived there for the next 95 years. Unfortunately George, the 7th Lord Rodney lost the family wealth in the late 19th century; first selling off furniture and paintings. He was finally forced to sell the house in 1901.

The house was purchased in 1901 by Frederick Cawley MP (later to become Lord Cawley), a wealthy Lancashire cotton finisher who bought a new lease of life to Berrington. He redecorated the house with considerable sympathy and many of his schemes still survive. He replaced ugly Victorian fire grates with more appropriate Georgian models but otherwise did little to disturb Holland’s beautiful original design.

It was in this cherished state that the house came to the National Trust in 1957 in part payment for death duties for the second Lord Cawley.

The U.S. Naval War College hosts the 71st Current Strategy Forum (CSF) in Newport, Rhode Island, June 7-8, 2022. The first CSF was held on May 9th, 1949 under the title “Round Table Talks.” CSF offers an opportunity for the nation’s public servants, scholars and senior military officers to join the college faculty and students to discuss the future strategy of the United States. Over the years, CSF has expanded to include a cross section of America’s civilian and military leadership to encourage a wide-ranging debate on national and international security. This year’s theme was “Net Assessment – Great Power Competition.” More information can be found here: usnwc.edu/News-and-Events/Events/Current-Strategy-Forum-2022. (U.S. Navy photo by Cmdr. At an earlier point in Brian Hughes’ life, it might have been difficult to predict his current success. As a middle school student living in Bellevue Washington’s Hidden Village public housing project and moving between abusive, alcoholic homes, he had a reputation for trouble making. On one occasion, he drove a teacher to tears sitting on the hood of her car, laughing and harassing her as she tried to leave. He refused to move.

Today, Brian won’t stop moving. He laughs easily, warmly encourages the children he’s teaching and openly shares stories about his future goals. Not only is he a successful college student with aspirations to teach high school science and math, he also runs his own technology consulting business while holding a full time job managing the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club. While many forces have influenced Brian’s path, technology access and training at Boys and Girls Clubs have played a pivotal role.

Currently, the statue of Vishnu is 23 metres (75.5 ft) high, although the original plan was for a 146-metre (479 ft) gold-plated Vishnu riding Garuda on top of an 11-storey entertainment complex. Garuda wing span will be 64 metres (210.0 ft) across.[1] When it's completed, it will be the largest statue in the world.[2] The idea was not without controversy, and religious authorities on the island complained that its massive size might disrupt the spiritual balance of the island, and that its commercial nature was inappropriate.

In 1972 the Balaklava and District Historical Society was formed, becoming a branch of the National Trust of South Australia in 1975. Early in 2004 the Balaklava group severed its connection with the National Trust to become the Balaklava Museum Inc and currently operates on two sites.

Centenary Hall sited in May Terrace has a colourful history and is the oldest church building still standing in Balaklava.

Opened in 1878 as the house of worship for the Church of Christ and subsequently used as a hall for the Druids, a Masonic Lodge and Balaklava’s first High School, becoming the Folk Museum in 1977. It now houses a large collection of local historical records and photographs as well as war memorabilia.

The last chapel currently in use at the Virginia National Guard Maneuver Training Center at Fort Pickett was dedicated May 24, 2011 to Chaplain (1st Lt.) Thomas McNeill Bulla who died from combat wounds in World War I. Maj. Gen. Frank E. Batts, Sr., commander of the 29th Infantry Division, and Col. Tom Wilkinson, commander of Fort Pickett, unveiled the new sign outside the chapel as part of the dedication. Several of Bulla's relatives also attended the event.

Bulla was born near Fayetteville, North Carolina, on January 4, 1881. Soon after he graduated from Union Theological Seminary he moved to Emporia where became the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in 1911. Bulla volunteered to become a chaplain after a request by the colonel of the 4th Virginia Infantry, an element of the Virginia National Guard, and was appointed in the rank of first lieutenant. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion newly organized 29th “Blue and Gray” Division. The entire 29th Division sailed to France in June 1918 and first entered combat in the Alsace Sector in August but suffered relatively light casualties. That changed when, starting on October 8, the division took part in the massive Allied operation known as the Meuse-Argonne Offensive.

It was apparently during the opening days of this attack that Chaplain Bulla repeatedly exposed himself to enemy fire by moving across “no man’s land” helping wounded soldiers to safety. This was duty neither required nor expected of an Army chaplain. On the morning of October 15, the 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry was the lead element for yet another attack in the area known as the Molleville Farm. It was during this assault that Bulla, again helping wounded soldiers, was struck by enemy fire and mortally wounded. He was evacuated to an Army hospital at Petite Mejoy where he died of his wounds on October 17. (Photo by Cotton Puryear, Virginia Department of Military Affairs)

This is a new fantasy character I am currently working on. I wasn't trying to make a Drow, but somehow It ended up morphing into one. If anyone knows of any roleplay sims that allow Drows, I am open to joining. I still have to come up with a name for this character, I might use a fantasy name generator.
