"Current" is a stunning, ephemeral, sky-high sculpture that will inspire wonder and imagination in all who see it. As it dances gracefully in the wind, this awe-inspiring work of art will become an emblem of Columbus’ culture and innovation.
The design and installation of "Current" was funded by Jeff Edwards. He has graciously donated the work to the Museum. The Book of Negroes by Lawrence_Hill follows the sweeping story of heroine Aminata Diallo, tracking her life as she goes from her African village to being a slave in the southern U.S. and continuing on to Halifax and then London, England.
The novel, which garnered a flood of praise, went on to win the Writers' Trust Fiction Prize and the Commonwealth Writers Prize for Best Overall Book in 2008. It also won the 2009 edition of Canada Reads.
dichroic stained glass panel that is framed currently in red oak. Out of the frame this panel can be thermo-paned and it will fit a standard full lite steel door as an insert.

The current chapel is from the 16th century and stands in the space occupied by two old Gothic chapels from the 13th century, which were unified under a single Renaissance oval vault built by the architects Domingo de Bérriz and Martín de la Haya. This new chapel was founded as a funeral chapel by Ana de Espinosa, widow of Pedro González de Salamanca, who had become rich in Peru.
The altarpiece is the work of Martín de la Haya and Domingo de Bérriz. It was built between 1580 and 1585. It consists of a large stone arch with abundant sculptural decoration that frames the wooden work, which follows the same Romanesque style as the La Haya brothers in the main altarpiece of the cathedral, carved a few years before. The old Devonshire Road railway bridge (north entrance), Blackpool. Monday 09 October 2017.
The old bridge was located west of the present bridge and is adjacent to the public footpath that links Devonshire Road with the eastern end of Enfield Road. The top of the arch of the old bridge can still clearly be seen, although not as much as up to the late 1990’s/early 2000’s when more earth was placed up against it.
I cannot work out why in the centre of the entrance there is a chimney which was added sometime after the bridge was abandoned, presumably there must have been a stove/fire placed inside the old bridge, if there was, why?
When you came out of the old bridge at the south end a public footpath took you through a field and past the abattoir to the north end of Abattoir Road (now Coopers Way) which linked on to Talbot Road. The south end of the bridge and the southern entrance were swept away when the south-west embankment and abutment of the current bridge were built.

Current lineations, also called rill lineations and parting lineations, are sedimentary structures consisting of shallow grooves and ridges oriented essentially perpendicular to shoreline and parallel to the back-and-forth swash movement of waves. Current lineations form during a wave’s backwash phase.

The 1.5 acre urban pocket park known as the Green is located between the 400 block of South Tryon and South College Streets, immediately west of the Charlotte Convention Center. Designed by Wagner Murray Architects of Charlotte, it was completed in 2002 and sits directly on top of a 7-level underground parking structure.
Sandstone capping retaining walls
This fine-grained, plane-bedded sandstone, used throughout the Green as retaining wall caps, was quarried near Crossville, Tennessee. One of the capstones on the southern side of the plaza has ripple marks, others have parting lineation (the small ridges evidence on bedding planes where the stone has split). This stone was likely formed in a deltaic setting associated with an inland sea, as evidenced by its plant fossils.

Currently about 300 people, 68 families live in small bamboo huts on stilts at the rubbish dumpsite of Mae Sot/ Thailand. These refugees who successfully fled the brutal military regime in Burma, with hopes of leading a life free of human rights abuses, are living under dire conditions. They lack working and residency papers, they are illegal immigrants living and working in the middle of stinky dump.
Their spirit of survival is amazing, but their conditions are terribly dismal. They literally live on the garbage and their houses are constructed and built from the recycled material from the garbage dump itself. The basic essentials they need to survive and to live as human beings basically come from the garbage dump and these include food, clothing, toys for their children, pots and utensils for cooking and even the water they drink come from the lake near the dumpsite which is terribly contaminated.
Please help to make a difference and relocate these refugees to a clean and safe area. On a rented property we will build basic infrastructural facilities such as housing, toilets and a water well.
