My back has been killing me lately. (It's an old injury from when I was in a school bus that rear-ended another bus on Boston's central artery. Fun times.) I decided to try acupuncture. It has actually made me feel a lot better, but the "cupping" they do before the sharp needles has left some damage! "Cupping" involves glass cups suctioned to the back to get the blood flowing. Yeah, the cupping hurts a lot more than the needles.

this is the Bolivian Cup of Excellence winning coffee from grower Juan de Dios Blanco. One of the most beautiful cups of coffee I have ever tasted.
Last day here, sadly. We cupped 5 coffees, mostly from South America--from Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia, and (IIRC) Guatemala. Odd man out, as it were, was Kenya Ndumberi. Very high contrast coffees (each one, honestly), lots of fun. We were able to guess 5/5 based on the flavor descriptions on the bags—which were in Norwegian.
I went up to Richmond today to hang out with MikeB, Surrounded By Light, Jeff_M, and Phil at the Holly wood Cemetery.
It was a hoot. Some statues feel ashamed, however. A couple need showers. It's all in a day of fun.

Cupping can be described as somewhat like a reverse massage. Instead of pushing the muscles into the body to get them to relax, suction is used to gently pull the muscle tissue upward to help it release. Specially designed cups are used to create suction through the use of heat or a vacuum device. Once the cups are in place the suction draws new blood to the site, increasing circulation to help release tight muscles, reduce inflammation and stimulate healing. There are different styles of cupping that are used depending on the situation. Cupping does wonders for a tight IT band. It can help unlock a frozen shoulder and relieve the cough, wheezing and tightness in the chest that is associated with upper respiratory infections and asthma.
