The Hands of Time consists of 12 bronze sculptures that depict life-size hands engaged in activities symbolic of Victoria’s past. The three-dimensional hands vary in culture, age and gender, and quietly convey eras and stories of Victoria.
The artwork is designed to playfully engage young and old, local and visitor, while kindling interest in Victoria’s history and identity. Each piece reveals a depth of meaning about Victoria, and beckons exploration and contemplation. Pacific Dogwood is British Columbia’s floral emblem. This sculpture symbolizes Victoria as British Columbia’s Capital City, and the importance of appreciating the present and nurturing the future.

Spencer from Bumpy's gave me a sample of this coffee to try and see what I could come up with. I don't know the origin, who roasted it, or when it was roasted, so I thought I'd just cup it with three samples. Sweet dark chocolate, roasted almond aroma (one sample was turpeny?, one had kind of a musty aroma) Earthy, Chocolatey, (two of the samples were a little musty in flavour) medium-heavy body, low acidity, not much aftertaste. A little buttery, sweetening and mellowing as it cools, becoming somewhat tobaccoy (two of the samples became ashy).
Except for the slightly over roasted (read: really strong) taste of the dark roast I thought they turned out pretty well.
The killer is the prices. The beans on right are about $55 per Kg. The green beans were $16.40/Kg
The corn popper I used to roast them was $12. I could throw it out with every kilo and I'd still be saving money.

Five El Salvadors on the table this round. Some from some very small farms indeed. Through our vast network of contacts in El Salvador (ahem!) we were able to discover these tiny farms and now are able to give them a fighting chance at the cupping table. Small growers, small roasters. Nimbleness wins the day.
