"I like coffee because it gives me the illusion that I might be awake." - Lewis Black

It was rough going back to the office after five days away; and it was obvious that I was missed. There was quite the pile of paperwork awaiting my return and a line up at my desk as people started to make their way into the office.
It's good to be missed, but I think I may have been missed a little too much. Oh well, the day went quickly so that's nothing to scoff at.
However, with the amount that needed doing, today was certainly fuelled by and brought to you by my good friend coffee.
Hope everyone has had a good day.

Coffee is the most popular drink worldwide (after water) with over 400 billion cups consumed each year.
The coffee market in the United Kingdom is distinctly different from other European countries. Coffee drinkers in the UK are avid consumers of instant coffee. The top instant coffee brands reach far more consumers than their fresh ground counterparts. Instant coffee is a historical leftover from World War II, introduced by U.S. military personnel. The product took hold in what was largely a tea drinking market.
The US Navy used to serve alcoholic beverages on board ships. However when Admiral Josephus "Joe" Daniels became Chief of Naval Operations, he outlawed alcohol on board ships, except for very special occasions. Coffee then became the drink of choice, hence the term "Cup of Joe".
Another cold, wet day here in the UK.

Did you know there are 3 theories about the origin of the term ‘Cup of Joe’?
One is that Joe was a term for the common man and coffee the drink of the common man. Another is that other slang terms for coffee, Java and Jamoke, were combined and shortened to Joe. The last is that when Josephus Daniels, Secretary of the Navy, banned alcohol on Navy Ships, in 1913, more coffee was consumed. The sailors began calling it ‘Joe’ in reference to the Secretary.

Finally made it to the end of this insane week. The fast pace and chaotic mood that started Monday didn't taper off as the week continued and up until quitting time today things were piling up and getting left behind as more pressing matters would arise.
Fingers crossed that with a few of the key players of the office away next week I'll have the chance to catch up, because honestly when it was time to leave I just locked up and walked away. I was not staying late on Friday.
When I shot my photo on Monday, I figured I'd end the week with this, and as the madness continued to build the more suiting this seemed to become. Also, as a side note; for anyone wanting to try this, be warned, writing with beans can be a pain and a little time consuming!
Hope everyone has had a good day.

Stormtrooper Bruce has just prepped the stage for his latest pic in the ongoing project for Palpatine. Juggling the various props, trying to decide which ones to use is truly a difficult job, but one he's ready to tackle.
STB: Whew! That's one jumbo backdrop! But really jazzed I saved all my old props, otherwise I'd be in a real jam.
STB: So, tell me you two - which angle is going to do you justice? Don't worry, this'll be over in a jiffy. Not.
STB: Hey, heard any good jokes, lately? How about this one:
What do you call a Jawa magician?
Harry Utinni!
STB: Well, I thought it was funny. Not judging, but from your silent treatment, you must think I'm Jedi scum.
STB: And finally, ju-u-ust wondering what's worse - jabbering away to mannikins or to myself?

One shot of awesomeness. Or at least that's what my friend told me.
I shot this photograph when visiting Sardinia in august 2014. I wanted to show the unique and picturesque side of the island, the variety in the beauty and the different flavors the island has to offer.
Great cafe/bakery situated in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia.
They offer hand made breads, croissants, eclairs, savoury buns, pies, tarts, brownies, cinnamon rolls, danishes, cakes and steaming hot fresh coffee.
Riding my bike down the street and went to visit my friend Zai. But she wasn't home. So went to the Oatsmill family road-side coffee and yum-yum shop! Hooray! Chocolate and strawberry macaroons! They are the best.
If you want to come and enjoy a treat and enjoy the ambiance come to maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Silla/123/199/74
The goodies are also MyStory compatible if you wish for some stats as well as a pretty spot.
Hopefully I can catch Zai before the street lights come on and I gotta head home! :D
Having a bad day? Looks like it's time for a coffee break. Try WTF brand artificial sweetener. Just as sweet as sugar, twice the attitude.

Definitely the way I start my day! After my first cup this morning I decided to take a quick shot of my now empty cup (since my set-up was still in place with the black background). I combined it with one of the smoke photographs from the other day that I had not uploaded. The quote just seemed to be appropriate when discussing the power of caffeine...
Comments and constructive feedback are always appreciated!
Back again to Cup of Joe in Cedar Falls. This time I had permanent ink in my calligraphy pen. And liked that a lot better. Still experimenting with Derwent Inktense pencils. Although I couldn't keep my hands off my tried-and-true wax pastels. April 4, 2016
I am beginning to love sepia with a passion.
I love still life photography but I could never find anything that I like. This is an exception.
Yes, I am fully aware that the left side is completely blown out. I purposely did that to imitate the morning sun - or so I say.
Title from T.S. Eliot, "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock"
"For I have known them all already, known them all:
Have known the evenings, mornings, afternoons,
I have measured out my life with coffee spoons;
I know the voices dying with a dying fall
Beneath the music from a farther room.
So how should I presume?"

Good morning everyone. This week me and a few other people have joined together to challange ourselves to do anything but flowers. I can usually go a day or three, but a whole week may be a bit harder than I thought. So grab your cup of joe and enjoy the week ahead.
