Lake Suwa was the inspiration for many of the locations in the anime movie "Your Name." I want for a dreamy, anime-like color scheme to match. This couple made for great subjects against the cotton candy sky.
Thanks to the CSSS group for making this the cover image!
I just had time to catch this flash of lightning in slow motion before a huge rainstorm hit us. On replaying it, I was amazed to see the same flash four times! Taken looking just over my side fence facing west.

Reproduction of Trinity Test "Gadget" detonation tower near 1962 F-105D Thunderchief jet, a model nicknamed "Thud" by Vietnam War-era crews.
Location: National Museum of Nuclear Science & History; Albuquerque, New Mexico; June 21, 2024, 8:12pm
Per Wikipedia, the jet's nickname "Thud" came from the character "Chief Thunderthud" from the Howdy Doody television series (a helaciously dated native american caricature played by a white guy with a pencil 'stache). This supersonic fighter-bomber was said in its era to be a "Triple Threat" – it could bomb you, strafe you, or fall on you.
The Trinity Test detonation tower reproduction was constructed at the Museum in 2017 as dramatic housing for a reproduction of the "Gadget" test bomb exploded at the Trinity Test Site near Alamogordo, New Mexico on July 16, 1945 – so-called at the time ("gadget") to avoid words like "atomic" or "bomb" for security reasons.
Thunderheads building up over the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. I often see large clouds on the horizon to the north of home. I believe they are over New Melones Reservoir, following the Stanislaus River towards Sonora Pass.

This is looking west in Scott County, MO just to the northwest of Oran, as a cell advancing from the south combined with the linear storms marching in from the southwest. The resulting push of wind initiated a tornado warning about 20 minutes later just south of Scott City, MO and about 10 minutes later a PDS tornado warning near Tamms, IL.
