TEXT ONLY

For the prompt and the title I took the clue from an old analog drawing of mine. But I expanded the prompt with a description of another painting from the eighties, which included all kinds of sea creatures as uniform decorations.

The first image in this series was created with Contemporary Surreal. Much later I duplicated it , text only, for a challenge.

I liked the idea so much, I ran several different versions in different modes, some with text only, some with a seed image. The results were largely very interesting, so eventually I made a special collection for it. Check it out here: creator.nightcafe.studio/collection/KjkvnAI1xX91rYwWggRr - from time to time I may add more.

PROMPT:

Kelpies are sea monsters from Celtic folklore. Known to appear on land as beautiful horses, kelpies lure people, especially children, onto their backs. Having lured a rider, the kelpie's skin becomes adhesive and escape is impossible. The kelpie returns to the sea and drowns and devours its rider, eating all but the heart or liver.

This kelpie is made of suede with a mohair mane and hand-painted acrylic safety eyes and features a thin coating of pearlescent acrylic that glimmers in the sun. His arms are jointed for posability.

Lagarfljótsormur is an Icelandic lake cryptid which is purported to live in Lagarfljót in Egilsstaðir. Sightings have been logged since 1345 and continue into the 21st century. An origin of the creature is given in Jón Árnason's collection of Icelandic folktales and legends published in 1862 and 1864.

The third cryptid off of the list and the third mammal....interesting.

This guy is from Indonesia and has been blamed for attacks on humans! Like a giant bat or pterosaur.

I think I drew this too much like a standard bat but fuck it.

Two brothers along with their parents decide to prank the sister. When she comes home, she is told her bothers went UFO hunting. When she goes in her room she sees an alien and goes in shock! Cryptozoology. The study of all that's weird, wacky or just downright bizzare. The most accurate description I can formulate is the study of animals not officially known to science. This includes animals known by a few locals but not scientists, and it includes animals known about by everybody, but not scientists (e.g. Bigfoot, Sasquatch or whatever you want to call it, see here). Anyway, a commonly recurring theme is the black dog. No-one knows if it's a real animal that is seen or merely a common psycological delusion brought on by something (Cryptozoology seems to dip into psychology as much as it does biology). Black dogs are frequently sinister, and, dipping into my photo collection I found a picture of the locally renouned 'Bickwell Black Dog'.

So here it is (Or is it??), wishing you a Merry Christmas...

A disgusting globster!

This build was inspired by medieval cryptids known as “wild men” or “woodwose,” which were very hairy humanoids who lived in the forest and shunned human society.

According to legend, hunters would attempt to capture these wild men by luring them with alcohol, getting them drunk, tying them up, and then trying to extract whatever secret knowledge the wild men might posses.

“It once happened in that country (and this seems indeed strange) that a living creature was caught in the forest as to which no one could say definitely whether it was a man or some other animal; for no one could get a word from it or be sure that it understood human speech. It had the human shape, however, in every detail, both as to hands and face and feet; but the entire body was covered with hair as the beasts are”

adapting the 'Cryptid' prompt for a change of visions into Wonderland and my Inner Universe of Surreal crazy!

For a centaur it is a epic fail, but I am keeping it - it is way too funny!

PROMPT:

"A Magnificient Cryptid Winged Centaur" stands front and center in a wonderland landscape, painting by Peter Paul Rubens, Alphonse Mucha, Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Art Nouveau, Baroque, intricately detailed, hyperrealism, fantasy, imperial colors; Bogomils Universe of the Mystic Otto Rapp
