Window Installation at Bear and Bird Gallery -- 160 Jay Street in Schenectady, New York -- October 2022.
We asked our old artist friend Skot Olsen, who now lives in Portland, Oregon and works as a tattoo artist - to do some silhouette illustrations of the creatures he creates. He provided us with a great trove of options so we could put together this fun window installation at our Jay Street location!
All of the illustrations are by Skot, but the window itself was laid out and built by me and my family! Brenda at Truly Yours Custom Framing in Glenville, NY helped out with a couple of the cut outs too!
We hope you got to see it in person and enjoy it!

I'm hot for cryptids, so the Snallygaster boat is always one of my favorites. The Snallygaster is Frederick County's very own cryptid! She lives in the Middletown Valley.
Boat name: Snallygaster and Twins
Sponsor: Cicki & Ed Poole and Teresa & Thom Beckley
Charity benefiting: Sophie and Madigan's Playground
2019-2020: “Sailing Through the Winter Solstice”--an exhibit of lit-up boats that stay in Carroll Creek between mid-November through the first weekend in February. Each business designed, built, and named its boat and is organizing charity fundraising efforts connected to the light display.
This was the fourth year for this display and there were 16 boats: up from only one boat in 2016-2017, seven boats in 2017-2018, and 10 boats in 2018-2019.

My three sweet Gargoyles - Mikael, Castiel and Raphael were handpicked by myself from BAB New Zealand a month ago.
My two cheeky Mothmen - Riku and Tristan were shipped from BAB US, along with my cutie Leaf Sheep Gretchen. They've only just arrived today! (well technically yesterday since it's past midnight ^^")

MothGirl - our favorite new cryptid!
In Illinois' Enfield town, a tale is told,
Of a creature strange, with a form so bold.
With red eyes and claws that cut through the night,
The Enfield Horror, a cryptid of fright.
Said to roam the streets, a mystery profound,
Leaving witnesses in awe and astound.
With a bizarre appearance, beyond belief,
The Enfield Horror, a legend, a relief.
Some say it's a hoax, a figment of fear,
A product of rumors, that's not so clear.
Or perhaps a creature, from another realm,
The Enfield Horror, a cryptid at the helm.
But stories persist, of encounters rare,
Of a creature that leaves people in despair.
The Enfield Horror, a legend of lore,
A cryptid mystery, forevermore.
So keep an eye out, as you roam the night,
In Enfield town, with caution and fright.
For you may encounter, a mysterious sight,
The Enfield Horror, a cryptid's delight.

In Nevada's Tahoe, a legend is told,
Of a creature mysterious, a sight to behold.
Tahoe Tessie, they call her with awe,
A lake monster that leaves them in awe.
With a long neck and a serpent's form,
Tahoe Tessie defies the norm.
Sightings are rare, but stories persist,
Of a creature lurking in the mist.
Is she a myth or a real-life wonder?
A creature lurking, the lake's deep under.
Tales of Tessie, a mystery so grand,
A legend that continues to expand.
In Nevada's Tahoe, the legend thrives,
Of a creature that mesmerizes and survives.
Tahoe Tessie, a cryptid's tale,
A mystery that's sure to prevail.

This is the supply closet of the renowned cryptid hunter, Loren Coleman. Spending years and years tracking the elusive creatures of the unknown world of cryptozoology, Dr. Coleman has become obsessed with tracking some of the most famous cryptid creatures. Unfortunately, Dr. Coleman has become so fixated on finding these critters, he has neglected his office and supply closet leaving behind him a mess of newspaper clippings, evidential findings, and forgotten equipment. But most notable of all in this disorder and chaos is a certain trickster cryptid crouched down in the corner, hiding from the world. Oh Dr. Coleman...if only you realized Bigfoot is not elusive...he is just a shy prankster.
