A RENFE train crossing the Bidassoa river on it’s way from Irún to Hendaye. The bridge it's on has two tracks, one with 1435 mm gauge and one with 1667 mm gauge. The train is using the 1667 mm gauge track. It came from Madrid and will finish its journey in Hendaye. The bridge on the foreground is of Euskotren and has 1000 mm gauge.

The Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, is a brand new span over the Hudson River, north of New York City. Most people call it the New Tappen Zee, or just the Tappen Zee, remnants of the original can just be seen on the left.

Crossing Mnisose (“minne-show-she”) tells the story of one of America's first feminists, Sacajawea, and draws a line from a completely original view of Lewis and Clark to the present day, as descendants of the Dakota and Lakota Nations continue their fight for the Mnisose (or what Europeans named the “Missouri River”) and the lands that contain the burials of their ancestors. Crossing the wide boulevards of Yerevan was terrifying. There was a split second between one lot of traffic and the next when the lights changed, so the only way to cross was to lurk in the middle in dire danger!

National Route A006 (Argentina)

National Route A006 is a gravel road of 8.5 km (5.3 mi) connecting the town of Las Cuevas on the nortwhest of the province of Mendoza with the Christ the Redeemer monument in the border between Argentina and Chile. This road is only open in the summer season. It is always important to inquire in the cities of Mendoza or Uspallata on the road conditions as it could be impassable at times. In it winding length it changes altitude from 3,151 m (10,338 ft) to 3,832 m (12,572 ft).

Before the construction of the Cristo Redentor Tunnel, the road was the only border crossing between the two countries in this area.

The crossing gates, signal box and former station building at Marston Moor, between Hammerton and Poppleton on the Knaresborough to York line. The box, a North Eastern Railway type S5 design, dates from 1910.

The closed Fossway Crossing signal box located by the Up Walsall line alongside Fosseway Lane level crossing to the south west of Lichfield. Friday 21st December 1990

Fossway Crossing signal box was a London & North Western Railway Company type 3 design that opened in 1875. A replacement 10 lever London & North Western Railway Company Tumbler frame was installed in 1890. The signal box closed on 16th December 1973 when it replaced by an automatic half-barrier level crossing supervised by Lichfield City signal box, the absolute block section being extended to between Anglesea Sidings and Lichfield City signal boxes. After the signal box closed the lever frame was removed and the signal box was retained for use as crossing keeper's accommodation when the level crossing was on local control until line was taken out of use

As for the location's name. The signal box is listed as being named Fossway Road Crossing signal box in sectional appendices between March 1937 and June 1969. The next sectional appendix published in October 1972 listed the signal box as being named Fossway Crossing. The next sectional appendix was published in February 1975 after the signal box had closed and listed the level crossing as being named Fosseway Level Crossing

Marking the 35th anniversary of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, the City of Sydney council installed this rainbow crossing at Taylor Square. “Lesbians and gay men were beaten and bashed on Oxford Street in 1978, and homophobic violence was rife for years. To now have our flag on our street celebrates how far we have come and is a tribute to the battles we have won.” - Sydney MP Alex Greenwich [Ref: 20130227_1382]

Powering away from Nottingham, 156473 works 2S07 the 07.34 Nottingham to Skegness service past Sneinton Crossing on the signalbox's last day of operation, the 19th July 2013. It will be become a victim of the Nottingham Resignalling project, which starts tomorrow and lasts for 5 weeks. A bridge is to be built on this spot to replace the crossing, the foundations for which can be seen to the right of the unit. The foundations on the other side of the line will be built exactly where the box stands. The signalman very kindly let me have a look around his box, as well as telling us what was coming for the frequent traffic on this line. There are over 70 movements on a day shift across this crossing, being on the stretch of line where both the Newark and Grantham lines join to enter Nottingham station.

A Zebra crossing and Belisha beacons in Beaconsfield

The Highway code tells pedestrians -

- Give traffic plenty of time to see you and to stop before you start to cross.

- Vehicles will need more time when the road is slippery.

- Remember that traffic does not have to stop until someone has moved onto the crossing.

- Wait until traffic has stopped from both directions or the road is clear before crossing.

- Keep looking both ways, and listening, in case a driver or rider has not seen you and attempts to overtake a vehicle that has stopped.

The Highway code tells drivers who are approaching a zebra crossing:

- Look out for people waiting to cross and be ready to slow down or stop to let them cross

- You MUST give way when someone has moved onto a crossing

- Allow more time for stopping on wet or icy roads

- Do not wave people across; this could be dangerous if another vehicle is approaching

- Be aware of pedestrians approaching from the side of the crossing.

A Belisha Beacon is a flashing orange ball on top of a black and white pole. They are placed on opposite sides of the road at a zebra crossing. They were introduced in 1934 by the Minister of Transport, Leslie Hore-Belisha, and are named after him.

Adventurer Alastair Humphreys and photographer Chris Herwig made an unsupported crossing of Iceland. They carried all of their food, camping gear, and equipment for both glacier crossing and packrafting in 40kg packs.

Hiking inland from the coast to the bleak interior highlands, Alastair and Chris crossed a glacier to reach the headwaters of Iceland's longest river. There they inflated packrafts and began paddling their way down to the opposite coast.
