Shibuya Crossing - the busiest stretch of road (people wise) I've seen. Our hotel was just off it, so we walked past it regularly

Crossing Mnisose (“minne-show-she”) tells the story of one of America's first feminists, Sacajawea, and draws a line from a completely original view of Lewis and Clark to the present day, as descendants of the Dakota and Lakota Nations continue their fight for the Mnisose (or what Europeans named the “Missouri River”) and the lands that contain the burials of their ancestors. From celebrated playwright, activist, and attorney Mary Kathryn Nagle (Cherokee Nation), whose Manahatta captivated audiences at Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

The Broadsman railtrour featuring 70013 Oliver Cromwell from London Kings Cross arrives at Sheringham Crossing and the North Norfolk Railway for the historic opening and the first passenger train to cross into the NNR from the mainline for 46 years. This view is from our carriage window.

If you can see yourself here let me know!! Considering the population of Sheringham is 7143 there's a good chance everyone was here! Thank you so much for turning out to welcome the train!

We felt like royalty here!! ;-)

The crossing at St Mary's, seen here from the north transept, reveals the older, pitched roof line of the original church, believed to date from the 12th-century.

This ungated crossing over the very busy A47 by-pass before the track was removed in June 2005 as being in a poor state of repair and replaced in the Spring of 2006 yet removed again in 2011? There is no way any organisation will be allowed to operate trains over this crossing whilst it remains ungated. The same Health and Safety regulations will obviously apply to the Redmoor Lane crossing.

The Council can find monies to widen this road but not a flyover?

Crossing Lake Chisi, Malawi: Despite the fact that Malawi often suffers from drought, flash storms in Zomba, as the clouds hit the Plateau, are not uncommon and the villagers are usually prepared with umbrellas. On the other hand, as few of them have ever learned to swim, the combination of foul weather and a boat crossing is likely to have resulted in a number of fairly pannicked passengers.

Railway level crossing panels of reinforced concrete /for sleeper-less laying/

Speed of passing: up to 160 km/h.

Axle load more than 100 tons.

Radius of assembly in curve: >= 100m.

Time of assembly up to 1-2 days.

The reinforced concrete panels are assembled on a basis (gravel or concrete), with good loading capacity and low susceptibility to subsiding.

(EV=110 MN/m2).

As a result of this comes a level crossing or a line with almost unlimited time of operation and nearly no maintenance expenses as if it is needed, the railing and the fastener may be replaced if it is worn out or defective.

There used to be another crossing box similar to this at Dunhampstead further up the line, but that closed long ago. I remember seeing a photo in a book somewhere of the signalman of that box with carpet tied to his shoes I guess to ensure the floor remained spotless

When crossing the border between Eritrea and Ethiopia, many of our people died. Here a mother has been left behind in Eritrea with three sons after one of them drowned in the river at the border. The rest of them made it across. They are very sick, but at least they are alive and will eventually reach a camp where they will be safe. Other people who I know did not make it this far – they were eaten by wild animals or killed by the military. This is still happening today.

-Mebrahtu, 45, art teacher

Eritreans often decide to cross the border in total secrecy, aware that those who know their whereabouts may be killed or tortured. Thousands of parents send their children alone to pre-emptively save them from a life of forced military conscription or government-induced enslavement. Only those who avoid military personnel and their ‘shoot to kill’ policy at the border make it to safety in Ethiopia.

Lou hanging out as I start on the crossing repairs. Is she sleeping on the job?

After 12 years, tree roots have lifted up one panel of track and forced over one plank crowding the flangeway necessitating some rehabilitation. The plan is also lift the track back to Creekside to lessen the gradient here, which was 1in20 over the actual crossing.
