Often referred to as the world's busiest crosswalk, thousands of pedestrians scramble across Tokyo's Shibuya Crossing daily.
At peak times, the hypnotic pace of the changing traffic light seems to signal the masses into a mesmerizing, yet claustrophobic, waltz.
For many, the controlled chaos of Shibuya's "Scramble" epitomizes the efficient madness of the cutting-edge city. Here, 10 lanes of traffic and five major crosswalks converge along a modern canyon of neon-coloured buildings in the heart of Tokyo.

i'm back from Oregon from a 5 days camping trip with family and friends. a group of 4 adults and 6 kids, Yes sir! and we did it! Crater lake this time. it was Amazing. out of this earth. lots of shots to process.
The shot above was taken in San Francisco about two weeks ago. Ashbury haight was in the fog and i was all excited being there. that street is phenomenal but ... quite dirty. while waiting for friends in the store, i stayed on the same spot for 30 minutes, observing silhouettes crossing the street. light was not that great, and the 85 was a good pick this time.
i'm sooo late at visiting streams. time to catch up!

In my mind, I had really wanted to get a high-key shot of a zebra crossing the road. This will never happen, I told myself, how often will I get to see a zebra, let alone one in this situation.
The answer is, several times a day. They're everywhere! There was one day we had to stop for about 15 mins as a line of plain's zebras about a mile long wandered through the savanna and across the road.
As much as this occurred, I still never tired of it. They are lovely animals and it's an amazing sight. This shot was at Etosha National Park in the northern part of Namibia. This is a high-risk malaria zone, so if you're going to visit make sure you take precautions.
This was also my first trip with my Sigma 150-500mm F5-6.3. It's not the best telephoto you'll ever find and it's not particularly fast, but for the price it's an amazing purchase! Keep it below 450mm and it stays nice and sharp. Even at the top end, it's not unrecoverable.

Lizard on extravagantly banded sandstone, near Lake Powell, Utah. The lizard is well camouflaged for sandstone but not so much in this setting.
A CrossCountry train for Stansted waits at the platform as the cars wait at the platform. The only hint of a drama unfolding off to the right is the open doors of the Range Rover. The closed gated have held up the emergency doctor who is trying to reach an accident scene on a pedestrian crossing on the far side
An old and abandoned railroad bridge crosses the Susquehanna River just south of Bloomsburg, PA. This was an overcast and still kind of afternoon, which made for some interesting photography options. I love the still reflection of the bridge in the water, which really pops in B&W.
47673 York Intercity Control on a railtour to Carlisle deputising for 45596 Bahamas which was poorly. 27 August 1994.
The wave action with the crossing patterns was pretty cool. so I tried some shorter long exposures to capture this pattern and motion. Also able to get the rising moon as well there behind the clouds.

'Jubilee' No. 45596 'Bahamas' heads The Railway Touring Company's 'Mancunian' charter, 1Z96 0712 London Euston - Manchester Piccadilly, near Norton Bridge on 21st October 2023. The train is running along the recently opened (2016) realignment around Norton Bridge, between Searchlight Lane and Yarnfield Junctions, which carries the line to Stone over the West Coast Main Line, which can be seen beneath the fourth coach off the charter train. The head brakeman on the Soo 783 east,retrieves the running orders from the hoop at Duplainville. The orders give the Soo 783 east rights over opposing trains from Duplainville to Grand Avenue on the westward track after crossing over from the eastbound at Duplainville.

The Grade I listed Weetwood Bridge that crosses the River Till near Wooler in Northumberland has been much altered over its existence but is thought to have first been constructed during the early 16th Century. Now closed to motorised vehicles.
The third of three photos showing Coalville Crossing after the wooden gates had been removed but before the lifting barriers were fully commissioned.
Protected by temporary traffic lights and red / white pennants a pair of 20s head loaded MGRs out of the down sidings towards Mantle Lane.
