People crossing the street, from Harrah's to the Mirage. Street crossings in Las Vegas are like an impending cattle stampede. The light goes green, you have :30 secs to cross, the next thing you know, you're in a sea of humanity, scrambling across 8 lanes of traffic, looking for the other sidewalk. :)
This photo was taken at a railroad crossing in downtown Petaluma, CA. My dad, also an amateur photographer, and I did a photowalk of downtown then headed into the hills to take some landscape of the countryside. The weather was forecast to be miserable but the rain held back and gave us an entire afternoon of perfect weather.

It struck me in post-processing that this vehicle could be a Police observation unit with a stack of sophisticated gear behind that mirror glass. This area is packed with fast food outlets and therefore drug dealers.

37425 and observation saloon 'Caroline' pass Batley signal box at 'Lady Ann' crossing with the 2Z02 York to York working. The ex Great Northern Railway, Wakefield to Bradford line used to pass over head here via a small viaduct, but the line was closed in the mid 1960s.

48094 from Mold Jnc shed heads in the opposite direction towards Stenson Jnc passing Derby Road Crossing Box from where the signalman operated the gates across the A38 presumably with the usual wheel. Even back in 1963 I would imagine it was a risky business finding a gap in the traffic to perform the operation. The box did have a large bay window, typical of other NS boxes, to hopefully help sighting the traffic.
CSX M582-08 is pulling into Cartersville, Georgia and preparing to make their set off and pick up off the Southbound at Junta Yard. Lead today by CSX 4545, a rebuilt SD70MAC, this is the second time this year I've caught this unit leading. It was much cleaner the first time.
