We are creating a Time Machine at ‘Pataphysical Studios, our art collective in Mill Valley, where surrealism meets the maker culture. Our Time Machine will take you on wild rides through time, to meet characters from the past, present and future.
On a balmy summer afternoon, we gathered in the art garden to create some of its parts: dragons of change to guide you on your journey; an art priestess in her prehistorical cave; a pataphysical flag on a magic pole; a painted gear holding the secret of life; a cactus of the future strolling by in stop-motion.
We then showed our Time Machine to young Dr. Delia, who gave it the two-year old test, pushing all of its buttons to jump back in time to the age of dinosaurs, her favorite scene. I’m pleased to report that we passed the audition. :)
This was also a great opportunity to celebrate our good friend Dr. Rindbrain’s un-birthday, which we kept low-key at his request. Long live the young at heart!
We are recruiting experienced artists and makers to help create the Time Machine through art, multimedia, theater and technology. Please contact us if you are interested and live in the Bay Area. We will give a few private demos in the fall for folks who are ready to get their hands dirty with us.

Create A Smile September Moodboard Challenge
My impressions to that moodboard:
The colorings will be kept in orange, grey, silver and black like from the first pic. The pic in the right top corner made me think of a shaker card, like the little corns ... The pumkin is round like the sequins I am using. The leaves moving around in autumn like the shaker shaking ... so a lot of celebrations can happen in autumn ... so cheer out loud, dance, shake and have fun all!

Title: The World Above and Below
Teacher: Debbie Rutledge
Theme: Science/Nature/Arts
Materials and techniques: Our students used rough draft paper to practice illustrating the contrasting levels above and below the Earth's surface. Next we took 8x8 paper to illustrate art that would be transferred with a projector onto canvas. Students traced the winning pieces onto canvas with Sharpie Markers. More students used acrylic paints to finish the works of art.
Did you enjoy this project? Students from 2nd - 5th enjoyed the project immensely. Many had connections to cave tours and some are anticipating holiday adventures to view art, nature and the mysterious world below.
About: Our 2nd & 3rd grade students studied the wonders of the "world above and below" Mammoth Cave. Fourth and 5th grade students help paint our winning murals. We chose to participate in the Mammoth Cave Exhibit because the cave system is part of our Kentucky claim to fame and as Kentuckians, our students should know about the longest cave system in the world.

Scenes from the Thursday, November 6, 2014 COSI After Dark, held from 5:30pm to 10pm. 275 grown-ups created their own flying machines, skittering robots, and giant structures using COSI's beloved blue blocks.
The 21+ event also featured concessions, a cash bar, and a featured craft beer from Columbus Brewing Company.
Event partners included: Engineers Without Borders Central Ohio Professional Chapter, IC3D, Design Outreach, and Columbus Brewing Company.
Design Outreach demonstrated their LifePump and other life-transforming solutions for poor and under-served communities. IC3D showcased their 3D printers and innovative filament for 3D printing.
