This image was taken for my media AS coursework, on horror. i decided to do this as my film that i was making was about a mystery so i decided to use clues like this about the murder as it was like a jigsaw piece finding the parts of the body etc.
2009 art coursework on parents living vicariously through their children. Polymer clay, chalk pastel, readymades.
The title of the piece in the images is PG: Playing God.
Artist Statement: Encased in a closely monitored environment, children lead a life padded with the safe assurances of parental choices. However, such care has the danger of morphing into an overbearing compulsiveness in ensuring a stable future for the child; what parents see as the profession of success could also be an embodiment of their own faded dreams, and hence they live vicariously through their children. Yet, the meticulous efforts in paving their youngsters' livelihood may not go as planned; the gulf of understanding between adult practicality and childish ignorance is indissoluble, and children, being immersed in innocence, fail to appreciate those preparations for the purposes they harbour.
The images on the boxes are in chalk pastel, and are based on modified flickr photographs. photo by Fiona Cher.
My AS coursework resulted in the creation of a wire corset as I felt this summed up all the different elements I found most influential from my research. The contrasting materials of wire and silk were used to highlight how women are expected to appear in both reality, the fashion-led world and in art as both perfectly formed to fit with societies expectations whilst retaining a natural elegance. I aimed for the wire to highlight the constraints corsetry placed on women's bodies whilst further allowing me to investigate the shapes a corset creates and the relation this has to the natural form. This piece was perhaps not as successful as I had hoped as there were problems with ensuring the skirt hung correctly whilst suspended but the corset itself worked well and I feel had the desired effect.

This is my AS Level coursework piece. For the project, we had to combine a personal item with another taken from The British Museum. I chose the American-Indian head dress because it contained a varying amount of patterns and textures which would be fun to experiment with. I decided to only use white ink to allow the beauty of it to be the main spectable instead of a range of materials and busying the composition.
To juxtapose this, I did use a range of materials to portray the pile of rings- materials which had similar qualities to the real things.
For this piece I used: White/black ink, acrylic, gold leaf, graphite, chrcoal, chalk, tissue paper, pastel, foil, lead, sting/ribbon/thread, netting, beads
Size: A1
Digital camera
Fine line drawing of Ian MacKaye (singer from punk band, Minor Threat) done on top of collage material.
December 2011.
This picture is from a number produced as part of my A2 Photography coursework. The theme of the photograph is constructive portraiture for which I researched tableau photography and studied the work of Tom Hunter who recreates paintings as photographs. In this picture, I made up a fellow student using professional makeup to create a flawless complexion with rosy cheeks to mimic Pre-Raphaelite paintings.
Brief: create a tourism poster for a place in the UK. I was given Chester.
I've never painted before and this was my first time using acrylics so the whole thing was quite a challenge. I'd attempted two paintings at college which were dreadful, and this was my third attempt which I did at home where I had more time and less noise/distractions.
This is Chester Cathedral. I'm very pleased with how it came out, particularly the effect of the brickwork and the shading.
Scanned in.
Hate this photograph, its like an advert for bloody microsoft. But I will be looking at this object most of today. 3000 word art essay on Tracey Emin. 814 words done so far, why do I never learn....

For each colour I looked into generic assumptions of mood's they represent. My model here is Gemma, and for purple I've always felt it either signified royal qualities or mysterious spirit connections, so I went with spiritual. Tarot cards are a fave of mine so I picture my model like a tarot reader/gypsy.
