This is the part edited image I’m using for my media coursework. I’m going to work in some open fractures on the zombie arm and add in a second set of hands holding a clapper board. And I need to burn more around the hairline and the arm.
I’m pretty please with how it’s turned out so far
For Photography A-Level coursework (Year 13).
I took this photo in the dark room in the studio as I wanted to be able to use the dark background and backdrops in this shoot. I used a softbox light so that the lighting wasn’t too intense. I instructed my model to pose in different ways that I could show the shoes, which are the main focus of the image as I decided to take a more fashion photography direction with this shoot, by using models as a development. I decided to use a blue backdrop as it contrasts from the bright red shoes, making them pop out from the backdrop. When editing I increased the saturation of the red and blue hues as these are the two main hues in the photo, and I wanted bright colours to be a common thing in this shoot like the previous shoot. In the second version of the image I used the colour splash technique to only keep the shoes and the model’s legs in colour. I did this by desaturating all of the other hues except for the red hue. I did this as I wanted to make it obvious that the shoes are the main focal point in that version of the image, rather than the bright colours altogether. I increased the brightness to make the photo brighter and more eye-catching. I increased the contrast to emphasise the contrast between the brightest point in the centre of the image, and the natural vignette around the corners of the image. I increased the vibrancy and saturation subtly, as I wanted the image to be bright and colourful but I did not want the image to be too warm-toned. I increased the shadows and highlights, to emphasise the white parts of the photo such as the parts of the shoes and the socks, but also the darker areas around the edge of the photo, creating a vignette. I added clarity to emphasise the details and textures in the photo, such as the pattern of the backdrop, the jeans and the shoes. The composition is successful as the model’s legs fit within the centre section using the rule of thirds, and lie against the vertical lines. Leading lines are created by the model’s legs which leads your eyes down the photo. A professional, commercial mood is created by the use of the backdrop, high key lighting and a well-known shoe brand. I used an aperture of f/5 as I wanted the shoes and the model to be the main focus of the photo, but also having the backdrop in focus. I also did not want the photo to be underexposed by using a smaller aperture. I used a shutter speed of 1/20 sec as the softbox lighting did not provide the brightest lighting, and I didn’t want to risk underexposing the photo.
This is a photo of apart of one of my final pieces. This one has very defined lines and corners which all travel to one place. In the photo you can see how precise the lines are which shows a certainty in the painting.
This painting was about processes as much as painting.

Description: Preparatory work for A-level Coursework. Everyone loves candy, and I wanted to find out where this special appeal lay. I wanted to draw out the essential qualities of the sweet, and experimented doing so using a variety of methods and mediums. In particular, I tried to capture its desirability, by the means of food photography and painting. Drawings and paintings are based on both real life observations and photo references.
