Brief: create a tourism poster for a place in the UK. I was given Chester.
I've never painted before and this was my first time using acrylics so the whole thing was quite a challenge. I'd attempted two paintings at college which were dreadful, and this was my third attempt which I did at home where I had more time and less noise/distractions.
This is Chester Cathedral. I'm very pleased with how it came out, particularly the effect of the brickwork and the shading.

For each colour I looked into generic assumptions of mood's they represent. My model here is Gemma, and for purple I've always felt it either signified royal qualities or mysterious spirit connections, so I went with spiritual. Tarot cards are a fave of mine so I picture my model like a tarot reader/gypsy.

These were all shot with my Canon 450D, I edited the RAW files to achieve the "polaroid look" and added the frame in photoshop.
The viewer feels on edge because it looks like I am drowning however in a very controlled way due to it being constricted to a circle. Influenced by Flora Borsi.
This one I set up the cards on bits of pipe cleaner so they didn't move, then I popped the top off of my maglite and traced around the cards with the shutter open. This shot is a blend of 4
I am slow.
Because I have the tendency to work on the nitty gritty and highly unnecessary details of my developmental work! Dammit.
FYI: I am working on the theme "The 7 Deadly Sins" in collaboration with classic fairy tales. Cliched I know.
