i planted asparagus a couple months ago with basically no clue what to expect, & apparently it just grows straight out of the ground, but then if you don't pick it in time, it turns into a weird feathery looking plant. or that's my interpretation of events so far. we haven't eaten any yet, but that's mostly b/c the thought of asparagus kind of grosses me out. a few weeks ago i made a delicious asparagus sandwich using sautéed asparagus, monterey jack cheese, sliced red onion, & homemade thousand island dressing on pumpernickel bread. i made one for each of us but it was so good we both wanted more. i made the sandwiches again not even a week later & the smell of my own asparagus-plus-red-onion pee made me want to vom. even thinking about it now turns my stomach. this is pretty sad, since i actually adore asparagus.
Some notes have just changed hands, I hope that Police Sergeant hasn't fallen in with a bit of bribery ?
I put this photo up a few days ago, and just thought I'd count out the visible modifications, some that most folks usually miss.

1. The materials used were my camera, a ruler, and the table in my dining room.
2. The thee this week was "Mathematics." I interpreted this theme by photographing a ruler, which has to do with mathematics.
3. I used the process of Leading Lines in this photo.
From Dick Smith, "the combination of the rectangular forewing white spots, one long and one short, implies that this is a male Little Glassywing.
Note also the white below the antennal knobs, as Glassberg says for Little Glassywing.

Thank You All So Much!
In True "Golden Girls" Fashion:
Thank you for being a friend
Traveled down a road and back again
Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant
I'm not ashamed to say
I hope it always will stay this way
My hat is off, won't you stand up and take a bow
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
If it's a car you lack
I'd surely buy you a Cadillac
Whatever you need any time of the day or night
I'm not ashamed to say
I hope it always will stay this way
My hat is off, won't you stand up and take a bow
And when we both get older
With walking canes and hair of gray
Have no fear even though it's hard to hear
I will stand real close and say
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
And when we die
And float away
Into the night
The milky way
You'll hear me call
As we ascend
I'll say your name
Then once again
Thank you for being a friend

I'm leaving Monday for 2 weeks...so I'll be posting pics like mad today.
Next week I'll introduce you guys to Rip Van Wrinkle...he was cute as a puppy but now he's a drool bucket...but still cute.
Meeting of the minds. Photo by EGB9000.
The guy in the vest was actually juggling to the solo. He was hula-hooping to the verses, and that's the damn truth. It was a street festival, after all.
