Pastries seen in a display case at an airport. When I was a kid, I could eat anything. Or, that's how I remember it - although I also remember lots of vegetables which had to be eaten - complaining got you a second helping - and pastries were a special treat. Nowadays, if I were to buy one of these pastries to eat on a plane - well, I won't speculate...
Photo from last Nov/Dec, taken with my cell phone
On a Christmas Bird Count today in Northern Kansas. (minus 5 degrees F when we started) A lot of the roads had not been cleared as some of the snow drifts were higher than the truck. Here I have stopped on a bridge and took this picture upstream.
My ex-girlfriend took this beauty in the Mountains of Switzerland. MY favorite pic from her journey.

Count Harrold wishes to take audience with all interested persons.
I have tales from far off, bold and colorful to be sure.
And it shall cost you only the smallest of coin...
A mouse, one gold feather and one night's rest under your roof (at my choosing).
I am just a small bat, but have traveled half way 'round the world and wish to tell my tale.
Do you wish to hear? I can share but one secret...
(I'm not REALLY a count)
More shall be revealed with payment!

Until Spring! View On Black
High of 25F with 25-30 mph winds in balmy Annapolis today. At least the sun was out. Sheltered creeks are frozen. The rivers are whipped and stirred all the way to the bottom with foam blowing across the whitecaps and crusty, frozen edges along the beaches. First real winter weather we've had in years. If the winds quiet and it stays cold, the rivers will freeze quickly tonight.
