The ample counter space in this kitchen is a dream. The soapstone is such a wonderful material, it withstands heat, won't stain, and can be refinished if need be. Roll your pie crust out directly on it!
clear off the kitchen cart to make room for the microwave. now we have so much more counterspace! still have to photograph the other side & rest of the kitchen.
HELP: I really want to paint the kitchen... and I wanted advice from ATers/Flickrs/Whoever, about paint colors that go with the kitchen counter tiles. I really wanted to go with a rustic reddish color but dunno if it would work with the counters.

I am thinking about switching places for the stove and the fridge. In order to have some counterspace beside the stove. It wouldn't cost very much to rewire the outlets.
That would also improve ventilation or even allow for a duct.
For next to the stove for now, I have a great wheeled cart with a butcher block worktop.
Vanity with custom cabinets and granite countertops. Offsetting the sink to one side of the counter leaves more counterspace which is especially helpful if you like to keep items on the counter.

The kitchen layout in the Berkeley is open and functional. The large island with sink and dishwasher has great counterspace for baking cookies and finishing homework.

Our Cabin #2 was in the back of the boat. We only had carryon luggage but I have no idea where the other peopel put all their stuff. There's two drawers under the bottom bed that will each hold about the equivalent of a carry-on bag (or less) . The rest of the room not taken up by the bed and a small bedside table was about 30" wide and 5' long. There was also about 18' of counterspace behind the bathroom sink.
The kitchen was small, unfortunately, because we both love to cook. But we made the most out of it by taking out the bar and putting in more counterspace and cabinets. After we were done, we couldn't recognize it from the old one.
