This is the ONLY outlet in my kitchen area. Mind you, all of the counterspace I have is to the right of here. The strange looking cupboard is an ironing board which occaisonally gets pressed into service (no pun intended) as extra counter space.

My kitchen and it's tiny counterspace is pretty much always totally covered in drying dishes, much like this.
A wide shot of the kitchen, the difference between now and when we started is almost shocking. The room is much more open, much lighter and the layout has improved tenfold in just the storage and counterspace alone.
(Yes I know this is a shot of it still in-progress, it gets the idea across. cope.)
The kitchen: New appliances, what looks like new vinyl tile, more counterspace than the last place, a nice big pantry and -- most importantly -- a dishwasher!
For some reason my housemate has a miniature tea set and dishes, and some other junk here. God forbid we have some counterspace for preparing food. I guess I could clean the cutting board if I wanted to make something....
The other side of the kitchen. It had plenty of cabinets and good use of counterspace and it also had a walk in pantry.
Standing in the doorway to the dining room looking just to the right of the angle in Before #1. Gazing at our only piece of counterspace in the entire kitchen (plus the back door) The stairs to the basement are tucked behind the countertop. And yes, that countertop is really made of real wood. Varnished plywood, to be exact.
