As the United States faces rising geopolitical threats in outer space—and countries like China and Russia advance their own so-called “counterspace” programs—the US is considering adding a sixth military branch, its first since the Air Force in 1947. we bought a VARDE at ikea to double our kitchen storage capacity and quadruple our counterspace. of course dot just lays there all day, rendering it 'filthy' for food prep. the diagonal line going from lower left to mid right is a clothesline.
I installed the magnetic knife rack last weekend and MAN do I love the added counterspace. Unrelated, but what I was ACTUALLY taking a picture of, I finally made it to World Market to get more curry paste (haven't found a recipe I like yet) and got some wine too. Whee!

Good counterspace (the coutner goes all the way to the wall), and a full-size gas stove...where are those pictures?
Here is our current kitchen setup (or as close as the IKEA planner can come to it). As you can see the portable dishwasher and our old IKRA Loka table (from about 5 years back) take up a lot of space, and we find that we do alot of food prep work on them rather than what little counterspace we do have.
One of the most notable features of the 500 is the prodigious amount of counter space in the galley thanks to it J-shape. The maple deck is optional.

The galley is small but fully functional. The faucet has a pullout sprayer and the sink is covered to add extra counter space.

galley kitchen. not huge, but i cook a lot and it's big enough for two. there's a pantry to the right and additional counterspace between the stove and wall (i use it for my toaster oven)

Here is an overview of our current kitchen setup (or as close as the IKEA planner can come to it). Not the best setup for us if you ask me. Just one strip of long counterspace broken up by a large sink, a fridge too big for the space, and a portable dishwasher that we are growing tired of.
that floating microwave saved us a ton of counterspace. i'm donating my current microwave to one of my design studios so we can have hot lunches!
