Having no snow in this part of the UK ruined my idea for a "Cool" shot. The forecast was thundersnow and -10°C, haha, yeah whatever!
So, a can of freeze spray picked up from Home Bargains was the order of the day. I have wanted to do this kind of shot for a while but never got around to it. Having no idea how to create it and Google being no help I winged it.
Strobist: Can lit with LED Lenser P7 from above and slightly to the front. Spray lit with SB910, snooted, 24mm and 1/64. Can triggered with kebab stick then cloned out in PS.
The River Severn and the soon to be demolished cooling towers of the Ironbridge Power Stations in Shropshire, England.
The Ironbridge power stations (also known as the Buildwas power stations) refers to a series of two power stations which have occupied a site on the banks of the River Severn at Buildwas in Shropshire, England. The Ironbridge B Power Station was operated by E.ON UK but the site is now owned by Uniper. The station stands near the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site. Originally powered by coal, they were converted to use 100% biomass fuel. Ironbridge B Power Station stopped generating electricity on 20 November 2015, with the decommissioning process continuing into 2017.
Construction of the first Ironbridge Power Station (later to become known as Ironbridge A Power Station) began in 1929, and the first phase was completed in 1932. The station officially opened on 13 October 1932. The full generating capacity of Ironbridge A was not realised until major expansions and the commissioning of extra boilers and generating sets had been completed in 1939. This gave the A Station a total generating output of 200 megawatts (MW).
As a result of the increasing demand for electricity after World War II, it was decided by the Central Electricity Generating Board that a new, larger, 1000 MW power station called Ironbridge B, was to be constructed alongside the A Station. The A station was partially closed on 27 October 1980, with the decommissioning of 100 MW of the station's generating capacity. The remainder of the station's capacity ceased generating electricity in 1981 and significant portions of the station were demolished in 1983 prior to being granted listed building status.
Parliamentary approval for Ironbridge B Power Station was sought and granted in 1962. Construction began in 1963, with the aim to begin generating electricity in the station in 1967. Due to construction delays, some limited industrial action and the implementation of improvements that had been pioneered during the construction of similar stations using the new 500 MW generating units, Ironbridge B didn't begin feeding power into the National Grid until the 11 June 1969. Full capacity was not reached until the second 500 MW unit began generating in February 1970. Ironbridge B Power Station stopped generating electricity on 20 November 2015 when it reached its 20,000 hours limit of generation under an EU directive, the decommissioning process is expected to continue into 2017.

Another old photo. And since this girl seems to be very popular, based on the number of views and favs... here is another.

So this is the day shot of that wall we did along the bund at a place called the cool docks. I was supposed to paint during an event there and we decided to meet up before and hit up this long wall over some horrid commissioned wall painting. A very nice spot as at a certain angle you can get in the backdrop the shanghai skyline with the famous landmark buildings. Unfortunently we got stopped by some guard who went berzerk on us for having painted over it ... we pretended (i did the others didnt have to) no being able to speak chinese or understand and we managed to walk away.
The following night we returned and finished off the wall, a much better look now.
Brian looks so cool wearing his glasses indoors. But they're not sunglasses; they're glasses to help correct his colour blindness. BTW the hats swivelled backward helps the cool vibe. He does that when he takes photos, and he learned that move from moi.
I like the vibe of this photo, despite the fact that I didn't nail the focus.

Not my usual subject LOL but these just looked stunning the other night when we went a walk, the sky turned very grey and the sun was shining on these cooling towers and I just thought it looked incredible!! I love how they are also reflected in the river!!!

Most people notice these giants as they drive by on the A453 or as they pass through Parkway Station. Here is the alternative view, taken inside one of the giant towers at Ratcliffe on Soar Power Station.
