Went to the farmer's market today for a photo job and all the fruits and veggies looked super delicious. I'm definitely gonna have to go back next week to by some freash treats.

1898
Julian's Bailey family bought at auction this site, scrapped its outgrown 1876 town hall, built this house, sold 1902 to widow Laura bell King whose family used it for 65 years to escape Calico's desert heat. Between 1870 and 1884, George Valentine King discovered the Golden Chariot Mine, Julian's richest, wed Laura Bell, 15, sold the mine, bought a Julian store, started a family then then moved on to Calico, the silver mining district near Barstow where he worked many mines. He was fatally injured in a mine near Angels Camp 1895

We found this one outside in the yard while setting up the tent for repairs. The shot I selected for today's dailyshoot was easy peasy so I pushed my G11 to see if I could get larger DOF while in macro mode. I've only been able to achieve nice bokeh with macro mode really close to my subject.

Spectators at Parklands try to keep cool during a Premier Division fixture between North East Premier League rivals Castle Eden and Chester-le-Street. Despite winning by six wickets, and securing 26 points, visitors Chester-le-Street slipped even further - 48 points - behind runaway leaders South Northumberland.
Castle Eden started the match in ninth, two places and 38 points above the relegation zone, the bottom two. After one or two scares, Chester-le-Street, second, won comfortably.
Put in on a pitch offering variable bounce, after showers the previous evening and overnight, Castle Eden slipped to 81-5, at one stage losing three wickets for the addition of a single run. Given that poor start, the hosts did very well to post a score in excess of 200. Captain Jonathan Malkin (40 off 106 balls), Nicholas Sampson-Barnes (35 off 47), Philip Wimpenny (26 off 36) and Jonathon Brown (25 not out off 33) were their leading run-makers. Liam Simpson finished with 4-35 from 11 overs, Amaan Ulhaq 2-35 from seven and Quentin Hughes 2-39 from 15.
Chester-le-Street's reply got off to an unpromising start. They lost Jon Coxon (0), caught, to the fourth ball and were soon 36-2. But opener and wicketkeeper Jacob McCann (62 not out off 120) and Andrew Smith (45 off 51) added 64 for the third wicket. McCann and all-rounder Hughes (49 off 76) then put on 98 for the fourth. Pacer Bilawal Iqbal (2-53 off 15) took those early wickets but he and his team-mates were unable to maintain the momentum.

August seems so very long ago now as I listen to the rain bouncing off the railing of our balcony. The temperature outside is a far cry from the balmy 20s of the summer when we were so warm in the car we pulled over for a walk in the Cathedral Grove and cooled our feet in Cameron Lake. Convenient and pretty.
