I know that a lot of re-ment collectors are strongly opposed to Disney re-ment, but while I do agree that there should be a good mixture of sets with and without Disney collaboration, I must say that the Stitch cooking set contains a lot of really cute and detailed pieces. Everyone who liked Stitch even a little bit should give it a try in my opinion ;)

Something strange happened with my pink Stitch cupcake... it misses the lower part ;__; It is possible that I lost it when opening the plastic, but I looked everywhere- and when I wanted to take off the lower part on one of the otehr cupcakes, I couldn't get it off... so this is probably really a factory error.

odd places to see something cooking

This was really too high for me to be able to get the pollen perfectly in focus, but the flower against the sky was such a contrast I thought it worth including here.

Thanks for stopping

This is the final picture I will post from our trip to France. It all concluded on our final night with a cooking class in Paris. Our main dishes were crepes and a fruit salad. There was not much of a learning curve for either but they were delicious.

Lovo feast at Denarau Island, Fiji

An earth oven or cooking pit is one of the most simple and long-used cooking structures, not to be confused with the masonry oven. At its simplest, an earth oven is simply a pit in the ground used to trap heat and bake, smoke, or steam food.

To bake food, the fire is built, then allowed to burn down to a smoulder, and the food is placed in the oven and covered. Steaming is similar; fire-heated rocks are put into a pit and are covered with green vegetation to add moisture, large quantities of food, more green vegetation (and sometimes water) if more moisture is needed to create the steam that is needed to cook the food, and then a final covering of earth is added over everything. The food in the pit can take up to several hours to almost a full day to cook, whether by dry or wet methods. Today, many communities still use cooking pits, at least for ceremonial or celebratory occasions: the Indigenous Fijian lovo, the Hawaiian luau, Māori hāngi and the New England clam bake. Thanksgiving is always a multi-day cooking event. Today pies, noodles, and cranberry sauce complete for the feast tomorrow. Tomorrow's cooking includes turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, peas, parsnips, homemade butter, whipped cream, and bread (made by Brodie). Happy early Thanksgiving to anyone in the US!

Elsie monitors food prep from the other room, listening for the sound that means A V O C A D O is being prepared. That's when Elsie drops everything and rushes to the kitchen.

Cooking on an outdoor grid is akin to a national pastime in Mexico. This afternoon and evening we spent time with another of the lovely families at their ranch house outside of San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico. The weather was perfect to enjoy friends and a home cooked chicken stew and tortillas. This family has a beautiful covered patio-bar type cooking area. The stew is being cooked over the fire you can see. This is a lovely place. I walked around and explored the immediate area after dinner. I have several photos of this ranch to share.

I'm at home in Dallas now and life is getting back to normal. The bus trip was 14 1/2 hours due to our bus losing a tire on the outskirts of Nuevo Laredo, just before reading the US / Mexico border. We had left Monterrey at 4:30 am. I had left the house at 3:00 am. We had to wait on the side of the road for a replacement tire to be brought to us. Most of us on the bus were sleeping or dozing so we hardly noticed. Then we drove through the streets of Nuevo Laredo until we came to the international bridge where we had to wait in long traffic lines. It took two hours to cross the border. The hardest part is having to take everything off the bus and hand carry all your luggage and everything you have with you up a long ramp, then lift it up to the scanning machine after showing your passport or permit. I now have a new bank card, a new temporary driver's license (got a better photo made) while I wait for my replacement license, and have cancelled the credit card numbers and am waiting on replacement cards. I'm grateful to God that none of my accounts were misused from the time I lost the card wallet, probably in Downtown Monterrey, Mexico. I certainly do feel blessed that nothing happened. It was time to come home anyway so all is well. I basically use Flickr as my photo blog site to keep up with you, my good friends.

I'm still on my tablet and can't place my photos on the map. I did at least once, but don't remember the secret formula. San Juan de los Lagos is in Central Mexico, about an hour south of Aguascalientes.
