I’ve managed to instal and set up a LocoRemote control system under the bonnet of my Simplex. Unfortunately, there is only room for the smallest version and - with the motor, fuse and Lipo battery in place - no space for a sound module and speaker. I could have only done this by sacrificing the cab - which I didn’t want to do. The LocoRemote establishes a closed WiFi region and control is either with my phone or iPad. It all works and I’m very impressed with slow speed control. My next purchase will have to be some more track! I’ve mostly worked on detailing the cab. Before any purists put me right, I know what I’ve done is largely fictional! It may not be completely accurate but I simply want it to look believable within the already considerable limitations of space and accuracy set by this excellent (but very cheap) Phil Sharples kit. The driver is now ready for painting and has a small magnet inserted when the sun doesn’t shine! There’s another one in the seat that will stop him falling out. BTW this is all 16mm to the foot and I’ll be running on 32mm track from Cliff Barker. The figure is 3D printed from a scanned human (from Design Scan Print 3D) and I had to modify him a bit to reposition his feet to fit my cab. The cab detail modules are all removable and, since these pictures were taken, I’ve made a removable cab
Whether a marketing campaign or a museum exhibit, a video game or a complex control system, the design we see is the culmination of many concepts and practices brought together from a variety of disciplines. Because no one can be an expert on everything, designers have always had to scramble to find the information and know-how required to make a design work—until now.
Universal Principles of Design, Revised and Updated is a comprehensive, cross-disciplinary encyclopedia of design. Richly illustrated and easy to navigate, it pairs clear explanations of every design concept with visual examples of the concepts applied in practice. From the "80/20” rule to chunking, from baby-face bias to Occam's razor, and from self-similarity to storytelling, every major design concept is defined and illustrated for readers to expand their knowledge.
This landmark reference will become the standard for designers, engineers, architects, and students who seek to broaden and improve their design expertise.

Alternatively, each point motor Common Return can be wired direct to Terminal "C", but there may be too many wires to fit into the terminal.
In this case a short single length of wire a few inches long can be connected to the Terminal "C" and the point motor returns connected to this.
All wiring to point motors must be as a seperate system and not connected to the track wiring at any point.
POINT MOTOR CONNECTIONS.
TYPE CODAMATIC. Connect as normal, centre tag to Terminal "C" and one outer tag to a Terminal L and the other outer tag to the companion Terminal R of the required number 1-6. Integral switches available for other circuits.
TYPE H & M SM3 Link tags 6 and 7 together and connect to Terminal "C". Connect Tag 1 to a Terminal L and tag 2 to the companion Terminal R of the required number 1-6. The integral switch on Tags 3/4/5 must be disconnected and can be used for other circuits.
TYPE PECO SL70. Connect as normal, the 2 link tags to Terminal "C" and one of the remaining tags to a Terminal L and the other tag to the companion Terminal R of the required number 1-6.
Select required point and road, left or right, and press the ACTIVATE button. The ACTIVATE LEVEL INDICATOR will light up and when the button is released will fade out showing the re-charge action of the pulse system. After the initial charge the light will not light if there is no point motor connected. If point roads are opposite to those required, change the point motor L/R leads over in the terminal blocks.
Do not hold the ACTIVATE button down when selecting a point, only use it after the point has been selected. In the event of a short circuit the light will remain operative and the output current limited automatically to a safe level. Under these conditions do not keep the ACTIVATE button depressed longer than required to check output.
Re-charge time is approx. 1/2 seconds, and although free moving point motors will function before the charge is complete, full power will only be developed when the ACTIVATE LEVEL INDICATOR has gone completely out.
The Capacitor Discharge System is available at Terminals + and C for use with existing point switching. The supply is direct and not controlled by the ACTIVATE button but the ACTIVATE LEVEL INDICATOR will show the pulse action when used.
Check all motors for smooth action, lightly oil moving parts.
CONTROLS
Always leave BRAKES full on (Simulator Control fully clockwise) when Unit is not in use.
With the Simulator Selector switch in the OFF position, Direct Control is obtained, the loco responding directly to the SPEED Control. This feature is useful for precision shunting, positioning etc.
With the SIMULATOR Switch in the ON position and the SIMULATOR Control turned to MAX COAST/BRAKES OFF (fully anti-clockwise) advance the SPEED Control to the required setting. With the loco in motion, reducing the

Recently, Apple filed a patent for an enhanced voice control system which will probably be implemented in the future iOS 5. This system would work by reducing the quantity of information users have to listen to when using their iPhones. Additionally, the system can get familiarized with a user’s preferences over time and deliver only the “tailored” information that he needs. This system, named “Adaptive Audio Feedback System and Method” would apply to alerts, menu navigation and prompts.
Since the purchase of Siri, a “personal assistant” for iPhone, who understands and answers voice commands like “Call me a taxi.” or “Where is the nearest Starbucks?”, Apple has been working hard to improve the voice control in its mobile gadgets. Some rumors say that the voice control will be “deeply integrated” in the next OS.
We can’t wait to see the alpha version of the iOS 5, but most of all, we can’t wait for the new iPhone 5 to be launched.

Experience the country’s only original Cold War Operations Room, which formed a critical link in the RAF’s Command and Control System in the Years following World War Two.
THE ROYAL AIR FORCE - AIR DEFENCE RADAR MUSEM - www.radarmuseum.co.uk/
A visit to the museum will give you a comprehensive insight into how Cold War Air Defence Operations were carried out during those tense and dangerous times as the RAF faced the might of the Societ Air Force and the ever-present threat of a nuclear war.
The Museum has managed to retain unique pieces of radar equipment as its purpose through World War Two to Cold War, was to monitor U.K air space. The Museum retells the development of radar through World War Two to seeing the actual Air Defence Cold War room (which contains original equipment of the era).
The Museum is an award winning, volunteer run, visitor attraction that offers a fascinating and informative day out for the family. Housed entirely in RAF buildings including the original hardened Grade II listed 1942 Radar Operations building, the Museum provided a unique window into the history of radar covering the period of the World War Two and the Cold War era's.
The Museum has 24 exihibition rooms and over 10,000 display items. Knowledgeable ex-RAF volunteers bring history to life giving two daily presentations, telling the real stories of Air Defence at RAF Neatishead.
The Crumbs Cafe offers delicious snacks and drinks, and on the way out you can pick up a memento of you visit in the well-stocked souvenir shop.

Energy control systems specialises in all kind of earthing and lightning protection. Lightning flashes to structures can be dangerous and unsafe for people, as well as to the structures themselves. Choose our lighting protection equipement & services and protect yourself and your precious structures.
J.S. Cotney, Inc. is a lighting manufacturers rep in Birmingham, AL that provides integrated lighting solutions for a variety of applications.
Rivermarket, located in Tuscaloosa, AL, is one of our projects. The open space at one end of the building is used not only for a regular farmer's market, but also for receptions, events, shows, parties, etc.
The other end of the building features office and conference room space, along with Tuscaloosa tourism information.
For Rivermarket, we provided all of the lighting fixtures and the lighting control system. Even before ground was broken, we created a 3D animation of the space in-house. You can see the completed animation on our YouTube channel.
One the building was nearing completion, we traveled to Tuscaloosa to commission the lighting control system and train their staff on how to use it.
The DredgeSOX® Erosion Control system is filled using pumped-in shallow pond sediment from the adjacent water body. Our SOX systems have the ability to reclaim lost shorelines using eco-friendly bioengineered systems that allows us to vegetate, and recreate a solid rooted environment following all BMP’s of living shoreline systems.
Awacs (Airborne Warning and Control System) Boeing 707 (1 Squadron NATO) at Ørland Norway © Tor-Inge Langberg
The E-3 Sentry is an airborne warning and control system (AWACS) aircraft that provides all-weather surveillance, command, control and communications needed by commanders of U.S. and NATO air defense forces. As proven in Desert Storm, it is the premier air battle command and control aircraft in the world today. The E-3 Sentry is a modified Boeing 707/320 commercial airframe with a rotating radar dome. The dome is 30 feet (9.1 meters) in diameter, six feet (1.8 meters) thick, and is held 11 feet (3.3 meters) above the fuselage by two struts. It contains a radar subsystem that permits surveillance fromthe Earth's surface up into the stratosphere, over land or water. The radar has a range of more than 200 miles (320 kilometers) for low-flying targets and farther for aerospace vehicles flying at medium to high altitudes. The radar combined with an identification friend or foe subsystem can look down to detect, identify and track enemy and friendly low-flying aircraft by eliminating ground clutter returns that confuse other radar systems.
