Krautrock-Plakate - Ausstellung im Bröhan Museum Berlin

Zeitgleich ist ein neues Krautrock-Buch Gerd Siekmann und erschienen: German Underground Concert Posters – 1968-81, mit 189 Krautrockplakaten aus der Sammlung POPDOM. Das Buch kann im Bröhan-Museum gekauft oder auf der Website www.POPDOM.de bestellt werden. Alle Plakate aus der Ausstellung sind im Plakat-Buch enthalten.
Jeden Freitag um 16 Uhr führt der Kurator Gerd Siekmann kostenlos durch die Ausstellung. Ohne Anmeldung, begrenzte Teilnehmerzahl
Gerd Siekmann, geboren 1959 in Unna, erlebte 1972 sein erstes Konzert mit der Berliner Band Birth Control. Von 1998 bis 2005 war er Betreiber des POPDOM in Köln, eines Museums für Design, Alltags- und Jugendkultur der 1960er und 1970er Jahre. Als Sammler, Kurator und Leihgeber ist er seit mehr als drei Jahrzehnten freischaffend im Kulturbereich tätig. 2020 eröffnete er seinen Webshop für Konzertplakate.
Aus der Pressemitteilung des Bröhn-Museums:
„Unter dem Begriff „Krautrock“ wurde die Musik der westdeutschen Subkultur der 1970er Jahre international populär. In der Ausstellung im Bröhan-Museum zeichnen rund 80 Konzertplakate aus einer privaten Sammlung ein lebendiges Bild der Musikszene dieser bewegten Dekade.
„Krauts“ war während des Zweiten Weltkriegs das gängige Schimpfwort für die Deutschen. Mit Beginn der 1970er Jahre setzte die Plattenindustrie „Krautrock“ als Schlagwort für ihre Werbekampagnen ein. Die 68er-Bewegung hatte auch der deutschen Musik zu einem neuen Aufbruch verholfen – alles wurde zur Disposition gestellt, alles sollte neu und anders werden. Musiker und Bands verweigerten sich genormten Lebensentwürfen. Die Abgrenzung vom Etablierten und die lustvolle Selbstverwirklichung führten zu anarchischen Klangexperimenten, teilweise suchten die Bands auch die direkte Konfrontation mit dem politischen System.
Versierte Gestalter, wie Jürgen Spohn, Reinhard Hippen, Karl Oskar Blase, Holger Matthies, Jürgen und Falk Rogner, Günther Kieser und Emil Schult, schufen ikonografische Plakate von großer visueller Kraft. Oftmals wurden Konzertplakate aber auch mit dem trotzigen Mut des Autodidakten selbst gebastelt. So entstanden Zeitdokumente mit einer ganz eigenen Ästhetik, die erstmals in einer Ausstellung thematisiert werden.“

Thorpe Abbotts, Station 139, home of the 100th Bomb Group during WWII. Four squadrons (349th BS – ‘XR’, 350th BS - ‘LN’, 351st BS – ‘EP’ and 418th BS – ‘LD’) flew B-17 bombers out of Thorpe Abbotts from June 1943 to April 1945, returning to the United States in December 1945.
Known as the ‘Bloody Hundredth’, the 2024 American war drama miniseries ‘Masters of the Air’ depicted the Eighth Air Force heavy bomber unit in eastern England during World War II.
