Portia Smith near her home.“I told my mom I had these feelings last year. We talked about it, it wasn’t a dramatic thing. She just wanted to make sure I went through Hormone Replacement Therapy when I was ready. It would take years, the same amount of time a young person goes through puberty. She wanted to make sure I didn’t get the hormones elsewhere. (You can buy anything on Amazon. I can buy a Barbie on Amazon, and I can buy hormones on Amazon. )So I’m holding out until the government says that HRT is covered by public health care, because I can’t do this on $700 a month, you know? It’s why my voice is still this way.”
“Men act and women appear. Men look at women. Women watch themselves being looked at. This determines not only most relations between men and women but also the relation of women to themselves. The surveyor of woman in herself is male: the surveyed female

61 - Sugar Honey Control (8:41)
Maidstone 1986
Rhythm: Paul Mex.
Competition question: Jude Wilton-Keel
People: Charlie Adlard, Paul Mercer, Martin de Sey, Adam Cole, Nick Scullard, Samantha Sutton.
Slightly belated effort to deconstruct previously depressing videos which almost gets there in places. My characteristically unwise decision to read some of the text myself is perhaps compensated by the magnificent performance of Martin de Sey near the end.
Somewhere far north of Berlin lies an abandoned mill for animal food, that was still in use until the year 2000. Then the new owner relocated the production and the whole area was abandoned - Irgendwo weit nördlich von Berlin befindet sich eine verlassene Mühle, die bis zum Jahr 2000 Tierfutter produzierte und dann durch den neuen Eigentümer abgewickelt wurde.
National Museum of the US Air Force
During World War II, air power provided valuable support to American ground troops. However, air attacks against nearby enemy ground forces, or close air support (CAS), required detailed coordination with the ground commanders to avoid hitting friendly forces. At first, the U.S. Army Air Forces (USAAF) assigned air liaison officers (ALOs) to the ground forces, and they used radio-equipped jeeps to direct air strikes against targets. To gain a broader perspective of the entire battlefield, USAAF pilots started using liaison aircraft to control CAS attacks from the air. Nicknamed Horsefly, these forward air controllers (FACs), maintained radio contact with the ground troops and the attacking aircraft, and they accurately directed air attacks. In addition, the Horseflies looked for enemy targets behind the front lines.
This effective forward air control system reappeared in the Korean War, with FACs nicknamed Mosquitoes. However, they were disbanded after the war as the U.S. Air Force turned toward an all-jet, nuclear armed force designed to fight the Cold War in the mid-1950s. Emphasizing the aerial interdiction of enemy supply lines, the USAF's tactical forces-believing that slow-flying attack aircraft could not survive over the modern battlefield-downplayed the CAS mission and spent little effort training FACs.
The guerrilla-style war waged by communists in Southeast Asia during the early 1960s revived the FAC mission. Pilots flying fast fighter bombers had difficulty distinguishing friendly troops and civilians from enemy forces. An ALO riding in a radio-equipped jeep could control air strikes, but the rough jungle terrain hid communist movements. Therefore, FACs flying over the battlefield became the essential element in directing the United States' overwhelming air power against the elusive communist guerrillas.

I always park in the garage whenever I have to pick someone up at the airport, rather than keep circling around the terminal. I had a few minutes to kill, so I got some quick shots.
This is TIA's control tower. My grandfather worked for the engineering company that built the airport back in 1971 and became head of the company in the mid-80s. He was on the cover of an engineering magazine, posing in front of the control tower. I believe the company went on to build Airside A in 1995.

The cab of the Mallard looks very similar to most other engines of the day. The Level glasses in the foreground, brake regulators and various valves and gauges.
Doubtless those who complained about the ramps in the road works will be heartened to see the quality control messages!
I suppose a more tech-savy term would be "interface," a device that enables a programmable thermostat to control a 40 amp contactor. This is temporary, until I have time to build it inside a tidy steel box.

Here is the tracker control system in its deployment configuration – the card is the same size as an Arduino Uno . Socket at left holds the Arduino Pro Mini clone (ATmega328 5V 16Mhz). Socket at right holds the A4988 Stepper Motor Driver Carrier. Single 2-pole screw terminal block, right front, connects to the HOME sensor switch. The pair of 2-pole screw terminal blocks, right rear, connect to the four leads of the stepper motor.
The 6-pin right-angle header on the nearside of the Arduino Pro Mini clone can be connected to a USB-to-Serial converter, but is only used to download programs from a PC onto the Arduino.
Note the 9 VDC battery cap. I intend to power this system from an external power tank, because I plan to add a current hungry, FET-driven, anti-dew heater controller to the empty real estate on the board. However, for the time being, what with the stepper motor being powered at a 0.8% duty cycle, I actually think I can run the tracker for several hours on a standard 9V battery.
