I REALLY got lazy with this one. Left the polarizer on. Mistake #1. Forgot to set the settings and focus manually, mistaked #2/3. Put the camera in low speed continuous shooting, held the shutter button, and panned :) Can't get any lazier than that! Could have used a higher shutter speed.

Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab) is a U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science national laboratory. Scientists worldwide utilize the lab’s unique particle accelerator, known as the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF), to probe the most basic building blocks of matter - helping us to better understand these particles and the forces that bind them - and ultimately our world.
In addition, the lab capitalizes on its unique technologies and expertise to perform advanced computing and applied research with industry and university partners, and provides programs designed to help educate the next generation in science and technology.
I love the randomness of continuous line drawing. I often use them as a way of deciding on a composition at the beginning of a painting. But sometimes I think they function as images in themselves. This image was intuitive and did not involve much prep, but I am pleased with the end result. The playfulness of proportions makes the image surreal and dreamlike.

Last picture from last weeks night session. Again there's a plane passing by, and traces of startrails here and there..
6 years ago at the end of the 4th of July weekend my husband left to go to Ft. Sam Houston for Combat Medic training. Our dream then was for him to get his medic training, go back to school at age 36, get his prerequisite courses done and then apply for the Army's Interservice Physician Assistant Program. It wasn't easy for us during these last 6 years, or especially these last 6 months, but we are at Ft. Sam Houston again and we are halfway done with our first year of physician assistant school. When I drove out to Ft. Sam Houston from Gadsden, AL at the end of October in 2002 with all the kids in tow we looked at this school house and helicopter and we dreamed we would be back. And here we are! We are so grateful!
I am a physician who does not have diabetes. I decided to wear a continuous glucose monitor.
While I am not diabetic or pre-diabetic, I'm awed by the ability of the human body to regulate itself and the ability of humans in which regulation is compromised to achieve their life goals.
Reminder that I have no ties to, nor have I received any gifts, honoraria, meals, from any food, pharmaceutical, device, or diagnostics manufacturer. #ConflictFree #NoDollarsforThisDoc

The next and the last stations of my short trip to Andalucia in february 2014 were the south Spanish cities Cadiz and Marbella. Cadiz is the oldest continuously-inhabited city in Spain and one of the oldest in southwestern Europe. Despite its unique site - on a narrow slice of land surrounded by the sea - Cádiz is, in most respects, a typically Andalusian city with a wealth of attractive vistas and well-preserved historical landmarks. The highlight of the city tour was a visit to the Tavira tower.
It has a cámara oscura, a room that uses the principle of the pinhole camera (and a specially prepared convex lens) to project panoramic views of the Old City onto a concave disc.
During my short stay in Marbella I could only see the famous Marina and the surrounding waterfront promenade, unfortunately, more time was not.
