The Flying Circus is the longest continuously running airshow in Virginia, and perhaps the world, with hundreds of thrilling performances over its forty-four year history. The Flying Circus Airshow features a host of antique airplanes including Stearmans, WACOs, Fleets, Cubs, Champs and others. Performances include formation flying demonstrations, world class aerobatics, death defying wing walkers, classic comedy routines and more providing an afternoon of fun for the whole family. Airplane rides are available for purchase both before and after the Sunday performance. These include open cockpit rides in the historic Stearman biplane, double rides for two in an antique WACO biplane, and kid's rides in the famous Piper Cub. Extreme aerobatic biplane rides are also available to the most adventurous spirits.

Strasbourg Christmas Market: And I had one of these Beignets for dessert. Who's counting calories after shivering continuously on this rainy/snowy day in Alsace.
Yu-Zhen did a beautiful continuous line drawing, here I can see her control drawing the loop line, straight lines and waves, and her whole drawing is almost in symmetrical proportion! I would like her to try and look at how the 3D object looks from the side next time, I know that the telephone was more on a slant and she could see the left hand side more, try and draw another 3D object at hoe using the technique! Yu-Zhen’s personal work surprised me this lesson! Here I can see she used the cross hatching method I briefly showed her (this task was for the older children but I waned to challenge her a little), I think she drew a little bag? She also used some nicely layered wavy lines on the surface too. I was most intrigued by her written name twice on the page: here I see she used a variety of lines and decorative elements, in future if she wants to use words to draw she can, maybe she should try looking at typography at home with the parents!

Taken on continuous shooting mode, unfortuantely the ball is only visible in the first picture. This is a shame as it was a fantastic shot for four, Spearmen perfectly judging the height that Cork could reach to and planting it just over the top.
Spearman went on to top score 86 off 55 balls, with 8 fours and 5 sixes, the highest individual score of the day. It was enough to win him the man of the match award, although in a batsman's game Mark Hardinges who took 2-16 off 4 overs must have run him close.
I love the randomness of continuous line drawing. I often use them as a way of deciding on a composition at the beginning of a painting. But sometimes I think they function as images in themselves. This image was intuitive and did not involve much prep, but I am pleased with the end result. The playfulness of proportions makes the image surreal and dreamlike.

Last picture from last weeks night session. Again there's a plane passing by, and traces of startrails here and there..
