Shamanism in artistic dialogue

Between St. Petersburg and Berlin

I begin with the simple question, which could have to do with art and shamanism vice versa?

What connects these topics?

Inspired by trance and ritual, the shaman enters a virtual Reiise into the world of the gods, to metaphysical places that remain inaccessible to the community.

From there, he returned with an image or likeness, which he passes on as a message from the gods to the community.

The artist observes the real world and transformed his impressions in his own world of images, with a specific meaning often remains closed and the observer for independent interpretation prompts. [...]

Both, shamans and artists act, each in his own way, of course, as an agent and translator of perceptions of a community.

It is quite conceivable that an artist in the moments of high concentration, similar to the shaman, in a trance-like state expires. Here, he will focus his creativity and focus so that he can almost caught his real environment and to translate his ideas into his own world of images and implement. [...]

Was verbindet diese Themen?

Cut-paper collage created for Kollage Kit theme: "-isms."

This is inspired by "Dynamic Suprematism," a painting by Kasimir Malevich. I'm a little vague on my art history here, but I think constructivism was one of the "-isms" Stalin declared to be "Western decadence." So Malevich made up the word "suprematism" to describe what he was doing, which was basically constructivism.

In my eight years of making collages, I've done three of these I call "inspired by" because I don't know what else to call them. They're sort of like copies, in the sense that I'm looking at an artwork while cutting out collage pieces that mimic shapes & colors in the painting (or whatever it is) and gluing them down in relation to each other to create a collage version of it. But they're not at all copies, because the collage elements usually have textures & colors that are different from the artwork I'm looking at, and because I usually leave stuff out.

If you look at Kasimir Malevich's "Dynamic Suprematism" (actually one of two paintings for which he used that title), you'll see what I mean. (Sorry I linked to a commercial site selling art prints, but I couldn't find it anywhere else.)

I like making these collage tributes to artworks I admire, and I learn from doing them, too. Any suggestions about what I should title them?

2009 - can it be 1929 ???

This is my humble dedication to Russian Avant-garde of the beginning of the XX century and to constructivism in particular

This art was ideological - first it should be an anti-bourgeois art, with the working class hero (especially from the ethnic minority), secondly it should be constructivist - characterised by severity, geometry-centred, laconicism of forms
