I don't like flashy awards, since they're mostly given because of an obligation to stupid group rules. If you got something to say, say it in your own words and not by copying and pasting. I don't follow such rules, so if you have the sweaper running, don't even bother to invite me please. As of now the flashy awards will be removed, no offence!
This pillar is the consequence of a custom dating back years! Travellers passing through the ancient feudal town of Molina de Aragon piled up stones at the side of the road to bring good luck on their journeys. With the passing of time these became decorated pillars (pairones or peirones). This one was presented to Madrid and placed here in 1987 on the corner of Calle de Serrano and Calle Maria de Molina.
Spotted this trike up by the community garden this afternoon. Glad I
didn't have to register it with the DMV.
Artist Statement:
In Blindfold of Consequence, I explore the violence of perception — not as blindness, but as obstruction. The material crossing the eyes is not a mask; it is pressure. It drags, adheres, resists. It is the physical manifestation of internal denial, the refusal to see, the moment before collapse or awakening.
The restrained grayscale palette strips away distraction and leaves only surface and bone. The substance becomes sculptural — almost ecclesiastical — a contemporary relic forming over living flesh. This is not about concealment; it is about what happens when identity hardens under tension.
Collectors are not acquiring a portrait — they are acquiring a moment of rupture.
Truth or Consequences New Mexico small old west NM town in the Desert 2010 Buildings Roads Signs distress T or C Hot Springs
Truth or Consequences wild life. TorC holds an annual festival which was fun.
Hot water comes to the surface from volcanic rock below TorC. The numerous hot springs were once used by the Indians but now have been tamed and regulated. There are several 1930's WPA era hotels, in different stages of renovation and offering big tubs of hot mineral water to soak in. As little as $5/ half hour for those just passing through. The community seems to have attracted a lot of neo-hippies, new agers and artists. The town is being upgraded and improved but is mostly undiscovered. A Walmart was built but has not opened reportedly because not enough prospective employees could pass a drug test.

A History Of The Cambridge Fire Department
PART ONE
"The Volunteers
1873 - 1946
The first recorded fire of any great consequence in Cambridge occurred on April 23, 1825, in the county recorders office in the old Courthouse. Through the years there were other large fires, the Harding sawmill, the McCracken salthouse, Samuel McCulleys dry goods store and the oldest house in Cambridge.
Fighting fire in Cambridge in early years was not the well-organized procedure it is today. The most common method of providing water at the scene of a fire was by he proverbial bucket brigade. Leather buckets were passed by hand from a well to the fire and back again. Also available were large wooden fire ladders, these were quite a load, requiring at least six men to maneuver them.
For several years these firefighting methods were sufficient to help prevent the spread of fire in Cambridge, but the time would come when these would prove inadequate and obsolete.
THE FIRE OF 1873
About four o'clock in the afternoon, Monday, June 26, 1873, workmen coating castings at the Simmons Brothers foundry on Water Street, (now Turner Avenue), allowed hot pitch tar to overflow from a kettle onto the fire below. The burning tar spread to the walls and soon engulfed the structure in flame. A heavy breeze carried the flames to the old Baptist Church, Zahniers blacksmith shop, several warehouses and homes. On many homes roofs made of shingles were set ablaze by wind-blown sparks and the whole town seemed doomed. The fire, destroyed all the buildings on the South side of Turner Avenue, from what now is the Eagles Club Rooms to South Eighth and Turner Avenue. Then all buildings south on South Eighth Street to where the City Building now stands. It swept along the North side of the street, from the rear of the Masonic Temple to the Rainey wool room at the corner of South Eighth and Turner Avenue. Twenty-two buildings in all were destroyed in this great tragedy.
It was at this time that the citizens of Cambridge banded together and against almost impossible odds began to fight the conflaguration that threatened to destroy their community. Telegraph poles were cut down and used as battering rams, ropes were used to pull down buildings in the fires path. The Elza M. Scott salt works sent a wagon load of salt to spread on roofs to help retard the spread of flame.
When it was seen that the city was ill-prepared to contain the fire the B & O Railroad sent special trains from Barnesville and Zanesville. Barnesville, soon after receiving a call for help that disastrous afternoon, sent 120 men, along with that villages fire engine - a hand pumper, along with a ladder wagon, and two hose carts. One of the many aspects of parenting that I still haven't totally figured out is discipline based on logical consequences. But I'm pretty sure that the logical consequences of requesting this hairstyle involve the permanent existence of this photograph.

Ah yes, the freedom of speech and stupidity. Another sign suggested that "Homo Sex" was also a threat to national security but it wasn't clear why or whether this was worse than sin.

Interesting storefronts are littered across Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. The town, originally called Hot Springs, chose to rename itself after a '40s-50s radio and TV show.
