this one's a design I spun a couple of times...always see little people in my pictures ( which is a worry )....looks like the one in this image is connected up to just about everything.....
reminds me of images I've seen that were around in the early Psychedelic era....

Interactive Exhibit
"A large scale interactive ecosystem. The installation is composed of six unique habitats spread out across the walls of the Great Hall, connected together by a 3000 sq ft interactive floor and a 45 ft high waterfall. Children can use physical logs to divert water flowing across the floor from the waterfall into the different habitats, where they can then use their hands to plant seeds of their choice. As the habitats bloom, creatures appear based on the health of the environment and the type of plants growing in it. If multiple habitats are healthy, creatures will migrate between them causing interesting chain reactions of behaviors."

The Navigli are a system of canals and waterways whose construction lasted 7 centuries (from XII to XIX century) that connected the lake Maggiore, the lake Como, the Ticino river and the Po river and also connecting Milan with Switzerland, North Eastern and Western Europe and to the sea and irrigate and productive huge areas. In just 35 years had been built 90 km of waterways and the first canal was realised in the XII century when began the construction of the Naviglio Grande with a system of dams invented by Leonardo Da Vinci in the XV century. (you can still see Leonardo’s Dam along Naviglio Pavese). Then, in 1457, Francesco Sforza, Lord of Milano, ordered the realization of another Naviglio, the Naviglio della Martesana, and in 1482 Ludovico il Moro commissioned Leonardo Da Vinci to plan a system to connect Lake Como to Milan and you can find drafts at the Museum of Navigli. The Famous Duomo di Milano has been build with the Marple coming via these canals. In 1805 Napoleon ordered to complete the Naviglio Pavese used also for trasportation of the Candoglia marble for the construction of the Duomo Cathedral. Then in the second half of the XIX century trains and railways become the first means of transport and the Navigli canals were less used and finally abandoned when cars appeared and only used by industries that polluted waters.

Thanks to the web, thanks to photography, thanks to technology. Sometimes I wonder who I would be without all of this? A completely different person? My interactions with people I never met, my passion shared with so much persons on this earth... Sometimes I have a look at the countries where my contacts (where YOU) are from, and it makes me think and dream... don't you find that this possibility to share so much things, so easily, is just one of the most beautiful things that can exist nowadays?
It's the fourth self-portrait from my recent series, and I think this circle of light makes the pic... I found this "defect" very interesting.

I don't know if this is the same heron as in yesterday's shot, but it is the same location. The sky was very overcast today and the bay was still as glass. I knew exposure was going to be tricky, so I decided to overexpose and then bring up the blacks to hopefully emphasize the lines of the composition. I didn't capture the detail I got yesterday, but I like the overall effect.

I recently returned from a month in and around Glacier National Park. All I can say is that place is beyond beautiful! Truly one of the great places to photograph all that the mountain environment has to offer: meadows, creeks, cascades, wildlife, and, of course, peak after glorious peak. We’re already planning on spending another month there next summer (hopefully with a lot less high elevation snow)!
This image was taken on one of my last mornings in the park. My usual early morning peak out of the tent revealed some really promising conditions to the east. Not having a chance to scout out this location the day before, I hoofed it up the ridge, scouring for one of the many dead trees to incorporate into the composition. I came across this little guy and hurriedly set up my gear. Soon the light and color took full control and it required immense restraint not to stop shooting and just stare gape-mouthed at the unfolding beauty. Easily one of the most beautiful mornings I’ve seen all year. Combined with sustained strong winds and a hyper vigilance for grizzlies verging on paranoia (a mom and three cubs had been spotted in the area the previous day), this morning has become my most memorable from the trip. That’s one thing I do appreciate about being in grizzly country. Since you’re no longer high man on the totem pole, you’re become much more aware of your surroundings. All of the senses become acutely sensitive to the slightest sound or movement. The result of this, for me at least, is to deepen the experience, acting to firmly ground me in each passing moment. Not much thinking, just watching, listening, breathing, doing. These fleeting moments of pure experience are what initially drew me to the outdoors and what continue to lure me back again and again. Enough with the philosophical musings… One last thing-- as nice as conditions were this morning they were even better the next day because the light, well, it kind of got ridiculous… So stay tuned!
