With his Barrels Speeder, default config. Only tweak made was taking out his foot rests and placing his knife on the side for easy access.

I need to spend some time thinking of innovative speeder configurations, also I'd like to paint his weapons so they have more life than that flat gray color allows them.

The P-38 was a radical design, with its twin-boom configuration and turbosupercharged V-12s. The engines were actually counter-rotating so that the torques would cancel out, which made the plane very stable but also expensive, since the engines were not interchangeable. A long teething process meant that at the start of WW II the AAF's fighter units were equipped with the less advanced P-39 and P-40, and it took a year or more to replace them with P-38s. Although it had trouble in the cold air over northern Europe, the Lightning performed excellently in the Mediterranean and South Pacific theaters.

The final-configuration Boeing 2707 mockup was sold to a museum and displayed at the SST Aviation Exhibit Center in Kissimmee, Florida, from 1973 to 1981. In 1983, the building, complete with SST, was purchased by the Faith World church. For years the Osceola New Life Assembly of God held services there with the airplane still standing above. In 1990, the mock-up was sold to aircraft restorer Charles Bell, who moved it, in pieces, to Merritt Island, in order to preserve it while it waited for a new home as the church now wanted the space for expansion. The forward fuselage was on display at the Hiller Aviation Museum of San Carlos, California, for many years, but in early 2013, was moved back to Seattle, where it is undergoing restoration at the Museum of Flight.

The Boeing 2707 was an American supersonic passenger airliner project during the 1960s. After winning a competition for a government-funded contract to build an American supersonic airliner, Boeing began development at its facilities in Seattle, Washington. The design emerged as a large aircraft with seating for 250 to 300 passengers and cruise speeds of approximately Mach 3. It was intended to be much larger and faster than preceding SST designs such as Concorde.

The SST was the topic of considerable concern within and outside the aviation industry. From the start, the airline industry noted that the economics of the design were questionable, concerns that were only partially addressed during development. Outside the field, the entire SST concept was the subject of considerable negative press, centered on the issue of sonic booms and effects on the ozone layer.

A key design feature of the 2707 was its use of a swing wing configuration. During development the required weight and size of this mechanism continued to grow, forcing the team to start over using a conventional delta wing. Rising costs and the lack of a clear market led to its cancellation in 1971 before two prototypes had been completed.

Just bought a Dell Latitude D620.

The little brat started playing elevator Muzak when I turned it on. The sound control buttons seem to be controlled by software, they do not work during initial configuration.

Deadlock: I will not configure anything with that awful sound. (I nearly stated that I live in Djibouti, out of plain desperation to get on.) And I can't turn off the sound until I have configured it.

Solution: Found a headphone with volume control, plugged it in and turned down the volume.

Tip to the considerate PC salesman: Supply the beast with a dummy minijack plugged into the headphone output.

It shows the setup configuration and parts for the Mance Mark V Heliograph, a tripod-mounted signaling instrument used from ca. 1907 to ca. 1960 by the British Empire/Commonwealth military to send messages long distances by Morse Code using reflected flashes of sunlight.

New desktop configuration, one keyboard per hand! FTW!! Extremely comfortable after getting used to. (Obviously, only the appropriate halves of the keyboards are in use; provides good redundancy, if other breaks.. :)

Actually, I think this kind of shoulder-wide posture might even help reduce tensions. Also, this gives more freedom of movement for upper body, which feels very nice when working with multiple displays (the only way to work, anyway).

Definitely recommend!

A wood and brass puzzle box from Hellraiser i got many years ago, (lament configuration) forget where though. :P Very solid and heavy. I remember he made ones that moved too, but were more expensive.

St Martin Palace Plain, Norwich, Norfolk

A small church, but everything is in place, the tower, the aisles, the clerestories. It is worth making a tour of the outside to see this, for the current configuration of the interior makes it seem unfamiliar, as we shall see. The church sits in a tight little graveyard with traffic on three sides, trees bowering high around and above. But on closer inspection the current appearance of St Martin is essentially that of a substantial Victorian restoration, as a result of a partial collapse of tower and chancel, and the heavy hand of Edward Hakewill.

Despite the proximity to the cathedral (the Palace in question is that of the Bishop) the setting was rather unlovely until a couple of decades ago, because the Norwich city gasworks sat immediately to the north of it. At one time, there had been a plan for a railway that would have cut St Martin off from the Cathedral precincts, but this is an area of regeneration, and today you would not know that such a controversy had ever existed.

The courts building is now on the site of the gasworks, and this led to St Martin being used for several years as the home of the Probation service. Internally, a split level steel and glass mezzanine provided working space above and below the floors. It ascends into the space beneath the tower, reaching ground floor level at both the west end and in the chancel. The aisle chapels have been glassed in and form meeting rooms. It is all crisp and airy, fully functional without detracting from the former character of the church too much, for the inner walls are pretty much intact and unscathed. Of course, it is now very different to how George Plunkett found it in 1934.

Much of the glass was destroyed in the Norwich blitz, but some good figures by Heaton, Butler & Bayne survived and are now isolated in clear glass. The later figures of Christ in Majesty flanked by Longinus and the Blessed Virgin appear to be by the William Morris of Westminster workshop, installed in 1952. Bikin Hayward thought them poor, but they stand up well for the period, especially the figure of Mary.

A surviving piece of Victoriana is the solemn inscription How Dreadful is this Place: This is the House of God, and this is the Gate of Heaven above the south doorway, which must have concentrated the mind a bit. A good 18th century ledger stone features a skull and hourglass backed by crossed bones, and Lady Elizabeth Calpthorpe's table memorial of 1578 is a good example of the seemly Anglicanism of the period.

Today the building is in use as the headquarters of the Norwich Historic Churches Trust, a worthy use no doubt but it does rather give the place the feel of a museum. Back in 2005 when I was here last I asked the kind man from the probation service who let me wander around if it was a suitable building for its then-use. He said that it was, and that the setting generally encouraged everybody to take each other seriously, and so when clients came for the first time they knew that this was a place that would give them a future. Perhaps the same applies now that the building is the focus of giving the city's historic churches a future.

In 2012 we received from NASA an order for 6 new models of International Space Station. NASA requested to modify our current model in order to represent the latest changes and additions to ISS so the model will depict the most current and updated configuration.

The foam lining in the transit cases for modified models was adjusted accordingly to accommodate the models and new separate elements.

Along with the order of 6 modified models for NASA we also produced one model in luxury edition for CERN, which was shipped to Geneva, Switzerland and receive excellent feedbacks for its accuracy and versatility.

The war time configuration of the Catalinas used in operations carried a 0.5 inch Browning machine gun in each blister and twin .303 Browning machine guns in the bow compartment as well as in the tunnel compartment. The machine guns in the blister had to be restrained by a movable arm that was in position during action stations to stop the gunner from inadvertently shooting the aircraft’s tail off. The machine guns in the bow and tunnel compartments fired on targets below or behind the aircraft.

The history of Roberto Parragué Singer by Keith Palmer Part 9#

Only a few days after their arrival, an urgent message was received from the FACh ordering their immediate return. Unfortunately it had started to rain and the short makeshift airstrip was soon waterlogged making a maximum weight take-off impossible. The only way to comply with their orders was to take-off with a small amount of fuel, land in the open sea and be refuelled from boats. Thus on January 28, Parragué with one mechanic aboard took-off and landed on the sea and took on fuel and the rest of the crew. All went well until they tried to take-off from the water – the weight meant that a long run was required and they were unfortunate to encounter a large wave which severely damaged the starboard wingtip and float. However, Parragué realised that they could capsize if they stopped, so he kept the throttles open and eventually they got off. However, due the damage to the wing, they could not continue the flight, so a landing was made back on the island airstrip. Parragué was later to say “If only we could have waited three days, the ground would have dried out”.
