It was the first real snowfall of winter, so I decided to head out to get a bit of practice, try out a different gear configuration, and try to get some good shots of the snow on the trees.

The weather prediction was for mostly cloudy so I didn't set the alarm to catch sunrise. In hindsight that was a mistake, as it was clear when I woke up (at dawn) and I hadn't planned a speedy departure the night before. The clouds moved in after my first battery and I missed some lovely light. As well, the bright sunlight was beginning to melt the snow off the trees.

On the bright side, my gear load-out mostly worked, so I’m goof for more trips next time conditions are suitable.

This High Dynamic Range 360° aerial panorama was stitched from 104 bracketed photographs with PTGUI Pro, tone-mapped with Photomatix, processed with Colour Efex, and touched up in Affinity Photo and Aperture.

Because of the cabin configuration, this is an aircraft we didn't usually see at Manchester. It was making it's first visit.

This aircraft was delivered to BOC Aviation Leasing and leased to Cathay Pacific Airways as B-KPN in Dec-09. It was withdrawn from service and stored at Hong Kong in Jul-20 as a consequence of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

It never returned to service and was ferried to Alice Springs, Australia in Oct-20 for long-term service. The aircraft returned to Hong Kong in Oct-21 and ferried to Xiamen, China two weeks later for maintenance.

In Dec-21 the aircraft briefly returned to Hong Kong before being ferried to Doha, Qatar and returned to the lessor as 2-BKPN. It was leased to Qatar Airways at the end of Dec-21 and entered service in late Jan-22 in non-standard white livery with Qatar Airways titles and tail logo. Current, updated 31-Oct-24.

One of multiple “dual keel” proposals during this time period. Note the cylindrical possible large space telescope or satellite being manipulated by the ‘manned’ RMS arm/Manned Remote Work Station (MRWS)? - which I thought was a GAC thing. Near the lower transverse beam, what looks like an OMV is either emplacing or removing either another space station module or rocket stage into/from the servicing/maintenance bay? Multiple & varied antennas, possible experiment packages, maybe even cameras line both the upper & lower transverse beams. The MMU-clad Astronaut is seen tending to the co-orbiting platform aka Science and Applications Manned Space Platform (SAMSP). All capped off with the ever-appealing Florida peninsula below.

8” x 10”. Borderless, which pretty much confirms it being Martin Marietta produced/distributed, probably as part of a presentation/packet.

A beautiful, exquisitely detailed work by Martin Marietta artist Les Pettus. And, in a Lockheed Martin publication from 2006, Mr. Pettus appears to have still been actively employed. Outstanding!

A very nice color lithograph of this image merely references it as “U.S Space Station”, at least on the obverse, along with specific attribution to “Martin Marietta, Michoud Aerospace Division”. Unfortunately, I have no idea what/if anything is written on the verso.

Been aiming to have this set up for a while. I bought a new guide rail system and extra counterweight. so, now I can hopefully use my 66mm William Optics refractor as a guide scope for my C8 SCT, meaning closer shots of deep sky objects.
